Groundbreaking is scheduled for some time in 1985. The building site will be the church's recently-purchased 11 acres of land located on Route 176, about one and a half miles west of the intersection of Route 14. The church began as a church planting ministry in October of 1980, and since that time has experienced rapid and steady growth. According to a spokesperson, the church is outgrowing its current rented facilities at North Elementary School. "We feel that having our own facilities is crucial in order for us to keep growing and to keep developing and expanding our ministries to the com munity." On Friday, April 20, the Alliance Church Youth Group spent a night of fun and exercise at - the Supreme Courts Raquetball Club in Crystal Lake. About 25 members par ticipated in valley ball, basketball and raquetball, as well as enjoyed the rest of the facilities. The Alliance Youth Group meets several times each month with the purpose of Christian youth fellowship. Activities in the past have included retreats, camping, swimming, concerts and canoe trips. Club president, Mike Schnaebele, cordially invites all teenage youth in the McHenry area to attend and enjoy the fellowship. Call 385- 1519 for more information on future activities. Janice Greenfield, missionary appointee, also shared ex periences in preparation for missionary work. Missionary endeavor is also supported locally by the ladies in the planting of extension churches throughout the mid west area. Mrs. Ruth Schuch, extension pastor's wife from Hyde Park, presented that aspect of the work. The ladies of the Alliance Church support missionaries around the world with daily prayers as well as providing clothing, blankets and needed household articles.
