However, Nancy Walsh drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Hurricanes to a wild 16-15 Northwest Suburban Conference victory over the Panthers. Marian had carried a 15-11 lead into the top of the seventh, but RL responded with four tallies to tie the score. Julie Callahan, Jill Beroa and Diane Knox drew one-out walks in the final inning before Beth Penza'8 infield out forced at the plate. Walsh then dfepped in with two outs and patiently waited for ball four forcing in Berna with the winning run. Marian, in fact, had led, 12-5, after four inning, but the Pan thers wiped that lead out with six runs in the top of the fourth to pull to within 12-11. to set Lisa The Hurricanes scored three times in the bottom of the fifth to take a 15-11 1< team scored in the stage for a stanza. Marian Coach cited the return of Walsh to the Hurricane lineup as being in strumental in the team's win. "Psychologically, the team ipn't the same with Nancy out of the lineup. She's our leader and I think the girls pulled together when Nancy was out there," Billman said. Also drawing praise from Billman was Kim Kuper, who was thrust into the starting catcher job just before the game. "Kim had never caught before and I thought she did a super job back there," Billman added. The Hurricanes were able .to take advantage of 15 walks issued by two RL pitchers. In additionjdarian slugged 23 hits to riotmd Lake's 2Q. Marian pitcher Diane Knox allowed only six free passes. Marian Asfeld led the 'Canes at the plate as she cracked four hits in five trips followed by Donna Remke's 3-for-5. McHenry Favorite Sports has four and Little Chef and McHenry Floral are tied with 3%. The contest for low net was won by Classic Trophy with 355. The winds were so strong for the match on May first we didn't know if we would hit the ball a country mile or find it behind us. None, but the brave went out to meet it, but that included enough gusty gals to make a good match. Dorie Tonyan was especially grateful for a chip-in on 13 after hitting five trees on the back nine. Lou Stine had a nice chip-in cm seven. Louise Smith and Laura Schmitt tied for low putts of 14. Let's hope for more sunshine and less wind on May 8th, when we meet again, so we can see some birdies on the score cards. WILL THE continued frpta page 20 Let's hope the Warriors put together a winning streak. Best of luck to the Water Warriors of Mike Shanahan this week. They take part in the state qualifying in water polo. They are at Palatine this weekend for a series of games. They must finish in the top three to qualify for the state finals at Chicago Circle.
