Winners were Ted Hollander, Kurt Mayer, Matt Schulster, Craig Smith and Dave Wilkey. Ken- nebeck and Johnson and Dan McCaffety and Jeff Boyer won in the doubles team matches. By Deborah Collura Plaindealer news service Hie McHenry County College Board of Trustees last week reviewed the preliminary 1965 budget, which includes a projected $100,000 deficit. According to MCC President Robert Bartlett, the projected deficit could be reduced with $31,000 in the school's con tingency fund, which is a non- committed fund. ' The projected budget includes a six percent raise for classified and administrative staff members. That raise would have to be approved by the board. . * In order to trim the $70,000 deficit after the contingency ftind issued, MCC Associate Dean of instruction Robert Frank said a few things" will have to be done. "There will have to be reduction in expenditures. If, for example, a summer class is cancelled, then we will not have to pay a teacher and may use that additional money to pay for some of the increases," Frank said. "Well also have to take a close look at credit-hour enrollment and assessed valuation, which is projected to fo up for the next fiscal year. "Also, well have to wait and see how the state will fund us, which may mean more money, but it's still too early to really tell what we are going to have to do," Frank explained. Bartlett added, "There is still no increase projected for enrollment, but we are still going to look closely at the summer enrollment level." In other business, Bartlett presented a proposal to the board prohibiting the sale and- or service of liquor on the college campus for any purpose. The board rejected the proposal, 3-2. Two board members were absent from the meeting. The board will now have the authority to approve or disap prove the use of liquor for in dividual functions as they are brought to the board's attention, but only for board functions. Lee trial date set By Angela Burden Plaindealer news service The murder trial of Ira Lee, accused of the 1962 stabbing death of Steven Feldt, is set for May 21 in Woodstock before Chief Judge Jack Hoogasian, 19th Judicial Circuit. Hoogasian, after day-long hearings last week, denied all pending defense motions with the exception of one seeking suppression of certain tangible evidence. The motion will be heard May 10 in Waukegan. Lee's defense lawyers, Dan Mengeling and Tom Gooch, argued motions Thursday to dismiss a Feb. 7, 1983, in dictment against Lee. Hiey claimed the indictment was defective and motions to dismiss amended indictments returned by a second grand jury Oct. 11, 1983 caused prejudice against the defendant. The defense alsox moved for supression of evidence against Lee obtained from a mental health counselor. The defense argued it was unauthorized disclosure, according to a federal law, unless preceded by a court order^X The judge, who ordered the court cleared for that hearing, denied the motion, noting the higher courts ruled that such (fisclosures directly affecting homicide and other serious violations of law do not prohibit mental health counselors from producing information about a patient. „ Hoogasian said Supreme Court rulings emphasize that disclosure must be balanced with other factors. State's Attorney Theodore Floro and assistant state's at torney Gail Moreland handled arguments for the prosecution. In addition to the murder of 29- year-old Feldt, Lee, 33, is also charged with home invasion and armed violence in connection with the death of the victim, who was found Aug. 17, 1982, in his Burbank Avenue apartment. The defendant was arrested in October, 1983 by Woodstock and county police on information provided through the state's attorney's office.
