His ace pitcher just nodded. Steve Banaszynski had ex­ perienced better pitting outings then the five innings against Marian Central. He gave up five runs on seven hits and was replaced by Bill Wade on the mound. But thanks to his teammates five-run out-burst in the sixth inning to tie the game up, Meyers was able to give the right-hander another chance. His little talk with Meyers seemed to work as he showed the Marian batters he learned his lesson well. Banaszynski re-entered the contest with two outs and the bases loaded in the seventh inning. He struckout the first batter he faced. Banaszynski then held down the Hurricanes in the top half of the eighth inning, while team­ mates scored one run in the bottom half to win 6-5. The win was Banaszynski's sixth against two losses. The Johnsburg Skyhawks raised their Northwest Suburban Conference record to 8-3, just a game behind Wauconda. Last Friday, Johnsburg defeated Grayslake 3-1, but lost to the Rams Thursday 5-0. Jeff Kruse picked up the loss for the Hurricanes, pitching the entire eight innings. His team dropped 3-8 in the NWSC. Kruse had little difficulty with the Skyhawks for five innings. He only allowed two hits, failed to walk a batter and struckout three. Banaszynski failed to handle a sharp ball hit by Rusty Hopp to the mound and all runners were safe to load the bases. Pecararo then followed with a sacrifice fly to center to score Noohan from third. "The reason he got hit was he was only throwing one speed," said Meyers on Banaszynski. "Steve's biggest downfall is he doesn't have a curve ball. An off- speed pitch." Deep enough for Bentz to touch all the bases. Jeff Preston followed with a triple, and was knocked in on Joe Majercik's double. Majercik scored on Matt Adams single. Kruse was able to get Jeff Jayko to fly out to center, but Mark Majercik then tripled for another rbi. After two outs, Bill Pecucci singled in the fifth run, before Kruse was able to strikeout Scott Tvaroh for the third out. Kruse was the top hitter for the game with a single, double and triple, with one rbi. Jeff Jayko was the winning pitcher for Johnsburg in the Skyhawks 3-1 win over Grayslake. A three run-second inning happened to be the dif­ ference in the pitching duel contest. Ram pitcher Brian Olson took the loss. Both pit­ chers only gave up four hits. Thursday, Murry Sage kept the Johnsburg bats in check in a 5-0 loss for the Skyhawks.
