SECTION 2 - PAGE 4 - PLAINDEALER- WEDNESDAY, MAY It, 1964 Church Communal Anointing Mass set at St. Mary's church Compare Passover and Last Supper The Reverend James G. Gaynor, pastor of the Church of' St. Mary of the Assumption, will concelebrate a Mass of Com munal Anointing Saturday, May 19, at 10 a.m., in the church. Plans include rides and assistance for those needing help in coming to church. With the help of the priests of the parish, the Mass will not be unnecessarily prolonged in order to keep discomfort at a minimum. Following the Mass, a simple breakfast will be sponsored by the Christian Mothers at Knights of Columbus Hall. Encouraged to come are those over 60 years, the chronically ill, and everyone under the special care of physicians. Illness certainly includes cases of admitted alcoholism, emotional problems and even spiritual illness. When the Church cares for the sick, it serves Christ, in the suffering members of His Mystical < Body. The Church obeys the command of the Lord to cure the sick (Mark 16:18) in showing solicitude by visiting, those in poor health, and especially in raising them up through the Sacrament of Anointing and nourishing them with the Bread of Life. All members of the com munity are invited to attend. Slate film showing Present .gospel concert The Tim Dewey Family of Nashville, TN will be presenting a gospel concert at Maranatha Assembly of God, 1309 Court St., McHenry, Thursday, May 17, at 7 p.m. Pastor Larry Thompson extends an invitation to the public for this special admission free, week day service. The Dewey's distinctive blend of vocal, instrumental and ministering style has won them entrance into churches, fairs, colleges and conventions from coast to coast in the United States, as well as in Canada and several foreign countries. They are a part of a close knit family of musicians and will be singing many of the original songs written and arranged by Tim's brother, as well as several they have written recently. Cham 0' Lakes Evangelical Covenant Church will be showing a motion picture release of International Prison Ministry entitled, "Changed Lives in San Quentin." Actually filmed inside the prison, this documentary features the stories of four notorious criminals. Interviews conducted by Art Linkletter and the director of IPM, Chaplain Ray, focus on rehabilitation as a result of conversion to Christianity. From inside the gas chamber Jerry Graham says, "I came very close to ending it all right here." In stark contrast to his life of crime, he now directs a ranch for abused children.' James Williams served time in San Quentin after a gun battle with police. Now he's employed by a criminal justice organization teaching men "the way to go out," as he puts it. Another changed life is George Meyer, A1 Capone's favorite driver. Now 74, he counsels teenagers about the evils of drug abuse. And Jack Burbridge, once an enforcer for organized crime, is now a preacher. The film concludes with a look inside the gas chamber. This showing is free to the public, at the church, 4815 Wilmot Rd., Sunday, May 20, at 7 p.m. What do the Jewish Passover and Jesus' Last Supper have in common? Joshua Mots, staff evangelist with Jews for Jesus, will answer that question as he presents "Christ in the Passover" at First Baptist Church in McHenry, south on Route 31, Friday, May 18, at 7:30 p.m. Tlie purpose of the "Christ in the Passover" presentation is to enhance the Christian un derstanding of the New Testament by showing a Jewish background for the Communion celebration. Ancient and modern Jewish customs are discussed and described with an emphasis on the aspect of redemption that Christ ac complished at Calvary. A table is set with traditional Jewish Passover items, in cluding ^representative foods which are explained, but not eaten. Members of the Jews for Jesus group have given this demonstration in more than 1,000 different churches. Jews for Jesus, an evangelistic agency, is best known for its creative materials. Their literature, called "broadsides," deals with contemporary themes ranging from nuclear disarmament to Pac-Man. Broadsides use humor and clever illustrations, yet have a serious message; namely, that Jesus is the promised Messiah for Jews and Gentiles. Other materials include their original Jewish gospel music and drama which is presented by mobile teams that tour the U.S. and overseas. RECEIVE THIS •SIGN FREE!! When You Ploce Your GARAGE SALE Adv. Gentile cultyral trappings have often fieen confused with what the Biblical religion teaches. The Messiah was born in Israel, not Greece or Rome. His mother's name',was Miry am, not Mary. And she was told by an angel, 'And thou Shalt have a son and call his name Y'shua, for he shall save* his people from their sins.' Y'Shua is the Jewish way to say Jesus."
