As ACS centers it's third year, it will continue to develop its motto "Education in the Shadow of the Cross." Anyone in terested in giving their child a Christian-based education is asked to call Mrs. Teri Popp at the school, 385-1519, for further information. Jim Edwards of Lake In The Hills, newly elected to a4 one- year term as Student Trustee, represents the entire student body from his seat on the McHenry County College Board. He brings to the office 20 years worth of leadership experience gained in the U.S. Army and involvement in civic and student activities. "Half my life was spent in the military," says Edwards. "I came back to school to try to find something to motiviate me. K^hat usually motivates me is e study of something I know nothing about. I picked agriculture. I find it fascinating. The management end of agriculture itself is just phenomenal." He is equally impressed with the attitude of teachers at MCC. Rand Road (Just 1 mile West of Randhurst) Arlington, Heights, III. - (312)577-7100 He feels that it is different from what he has experienced in his studies at a number of four-year schools across the country. "You go to a lot of classrooms," he continues, "the teacher knows the subject, but they are kind of guarded. They don't *Ant you to know everything they know. Here, the instructors appreciate you questioning why they say something. They want you to know all they know, and I'm not talking just about ag in structors." Edwards adds, "I want to really be available. I want to develop the concerns of the students toward the facility. I'm not a hip shooter and I will not invent problems for the Board. If there is a problem, I will defend an issue. I won't represent a complaint." He wants to develop a Student Trustee staff. He is looking for students who want to get in volved and work to help form plans, policies and procedures on behalf of the student body, to be presented to the board. He is initiating a Presklnets Forum, a meeting once a month between himself and MCC club presidents. He plans to circulate "Student Out" surveys at the end of each semester to enable students to "unload" their concerns and comments and will put up suggestion boxes around campus. Citizens groups or individuals are encouraged to write to Student Trustee Jim Edwards with ideas, comments or con cerns c-o McHenry County College, Route 14 and Lucas Road, Crystal Lake, II. 60014.
