Paddock will celebrate his silver anniversary of priesthood. Father Paddock, son of the late Kathryn and Earl Paddock, former McHenry residents, is pastor of St. Mary Church in Aurora, IL. Following his graduation from fit. Mary's Grade School in McHenry, he attended the Salvatorian Seminary in St. Nazianz, WI in his early years of preparation for the priesthood. Philosophy and theology seminary training were St Paul. MN, and he was or­ dained a priest of the Rockford Diocese June 6,1969, at St Mary Church, McHenry. After ordination, he served as associate pastor in several parishes of the Rockford Diocese including St. Ber- nadette, Rockford, St. Andrew, Rock Falls and St. Joseph, Aurora. Father then served as ad­ ministrator of St. Mary Church, Aurora and later became its pastor. He has served for several years on the Priests' Senate, Diocesan Personnel Board, Vocations Commission and is presently on the Budget Committee of the Rockford Diocese. He also taught on the religious education faculty of Muldoon High School, Rockford, Newman High School, Sterling, Madonna and Aurora Central Catholic High Schools in Aurora. Father Paddock will celebrate a special Anniversary Mass at St. Mary Church, Aurora, at 10 a.m. Sunday, June 10. A reception will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. for well-wishers. Invite children to greet 'Lollipop' at Bible school Women's Aglow features speaker Lollipop Dragon, the dragon ever seen by the of this community, arrives Monday, June 4, at the Wonder Lake Bible Church in preparation for Vacation Bible School, June 4 through June 8, from 9 a.m. until 12:15 p.m. This will be the third visit of Lollipop Dragon and all the children of the community, five years old through eighth grade are invited to come and again welcome her to the fun of Vacation Bible School. Lollipop Dragon especially likes to participate in the Bible stories, games, refreshments, hand crafted projects and many other things that students enjoy each day at the school. Everyone is invited to come and shake her hand. Women's Aglow Fellowship of Crystal Lake-McHenry will host a luncheon Thursday, June 7, at 10:80 a.m. at John Evans Inn, Crystal Lake. Guest speaker will be Gwen Shaw, evangelist and former missionary to over 50 foreign countries. Born and raised in Canada, Gwen dedicated her life to God at age 17 and embarked on what was to become a life-long mission of travel and at times, travail. She spent her first two years as a missionary in pre- communist China; from there, went to India, Africa, Russia, Malaysia, Germany; and the list goes on and on. In 1970 Ms. Shaw founded her own non-profit women's missionary organization which has sent more than 250 workers to some of the most difficult mission fields in the world, taking Bibles and supplies and preaching the Gospel. Her life has been one of high adventure. She often says, GWEN SHAW "Sometimes I fed that I have lived five lives in the last 20 years alone." Her motto is: "For me to live is Christ, to die is gain." Summer schedule in effect June 1 Effective June 1, through Aug. 31, weekday Masses at St. John the Baptist Church in Johnsburg will be as follows: Monday, 8 a.m. Mass; Tuesday, 7 a.m. Liturgy of the Word and 8 a.m. Mass; Wednesday, 8 a.m. Mass; Thursday, 7 a.m. liturgy of the Word and 8 a.m. Mass; Friday, 8 a.m. Mass; Saturday, 8 a.m. Mass. The Sunday Masses will remain the same: Saturday evening at 5:30 p.m.; and Sunday at 7, 9 and 11 a.m. St. John church May Crowning Parishioners of St. John the Baptist Catholic church in Johnsburg gathered Tuesday, May 22, at 7:30 p.m., to pay homage to the Blessed Virgin Mary. The traditional May Crowning ceremony is to honor Mary as the heavenly mother and Queen of Heaven. t More than 130 children (school children, First Communicants and Junior Foresters) formed a procession in singing the song, "Immaculate Mary," as they marched down the aisle. The choir of St. John the Baptist Church sang "O Sanctissima" and Mary Idstein sang "Ave Maria" Hie Knights of Columbus of Round Lake, IL served as Honor Guard. The male escort, Rick Schaller, helped Terri Eichhorn, chosen from the Girl Foresters, to crown Our Lady. Her court consisted of Julie Anderson, Kathy Butler and Traci Schmitt. More than 16 dozen roses were used to decorate the altar to honor Mary. The Reverend John C. Holdren, Pastor of St. John's church, led the Rosary and various members of parish organizations formed a living rosary around the church. After a rendition of "The Memorare" by the choir, under the direction of Sister Barbara Jean Potthast, Benediction closed the ceremony.
