The at tractive student materials shown above relate the children's daily experiences with stories from the Bible. Children from ages three to 11 have enrolled and will have an opportunity to explore the Bible through stories, songs, games, puzzles, craft activities and prayer. This is an important and serious learning time, but it's meant to be fun-filled, child- centered and happy. Classes will be held Monday, June 25, through Friday, June 29, from $ a.m. to 12 p.m. in Montini Middle School. Closing activities are planned for Friday, June 29, at 7:30 p.m., in the Montini Middle School gymnasium. A musical program called, "Micah's Song" will be presented by all the students in the Bible school. Parents and friends are invited to attend this program, to see and hear some of the Bible learning the children have received. Many enthusiastic and qualified teachers, aides and parents are combining their love and knowledge to make this a very special week for all of the children. For additional information on this program, please contact Mary Ann Schadt, 385-0255, or Celeste Mann, 385-9454. Two and a half years ago, the people of Unity Church of Crystal Lake bid a fond farewell to the Rev. Victoria Walden- Miller, with emotions ranging from sadness over her depar ture to joy over her new life in Portland, OR with her husband and co-minister, the Rev. Larry Miller. It is with great joy and excitement that she is welcomed back to Unity church to deliver the service this Sunday, June 10, at 11 a.m. "Skilled at teaching the principles of spiritual growth through absolute harmony with God as manifested through ourselves and each other, the Rev. Walden-Miller takes these teachings one step further as she courageously applies them to her own life. Through her dedicated enthusiasm and love, she has touched the souls of so many of us," states Pamela Amine, Unity 'spokesperson. Subsequent to a 10-year background in the field of education, The Rev. Walden- Miller was ordained at Unity Ministerial School, Unity Village, Missouri, in June of 1980. She immediately brought her skills as a director, coun selor and spiritual teacher to Unity Church of Crystal Lake where she served as minister until March of 1982, when she moved to Portland. Later, she and her husband moved to Bremmerton, WA, to co- minister another Unity church. Unity church is located at 3 Chalet Dr., Crystal Lake, behind the Arnold Palmer Golf range, near the intersection of U.S. Routes 14 and 31. It is a non- denominational Christian church where people of diverse belief systems merge to study, meditate and pray. There is also a youth education program encompassing pre-schoolers through high school age. Everyone is invited to attend June 10 and for further in formation, one may call 455- 2479. Sunday evening, June 10, Maranatha Assembly of God church will be honoring two young ladies who have recently completed the Missionettes "Stairway to the Stars" achievement program, and earned the privilege of being crowned "Honor Stars." They are Ruth Rogers and Ann Szubart, both of McHenry. The local ceremony will take place at 1309 N. Court St., McHenry, at 6 p.m. They will be honored by the State of Illinois and national headquarters in Carlinville June 13. Missionettes is divided into four major groups according to grade: Daisies, K-l; Prims, 2-3; Juniors, 4-6; and Seniors, 7-10. Daisies and Prims are two-year programs based on Bible and life situations with an emphasis on the girls' relationship to God, family, church and friends. The girls enjoy earning exciting, colorful badges. Juniors and Seniors have an achievement program of 56 required steps which offer op portunities for Bible study, scripture memorization, per sonal and community outreach, reading Christian books, visiting local nursing home and hospital, and also having many badges to earn. Also provided are extra- activity badges such as c i t i z e n s h i p , s e w i n g , homemaking cooking, camp- craft, nature, personal development, boating, hiking, canoeing, gardening, bicycling, pet care, babysitting, etc. Missionettes provide social activities such as campouts, picnics, field trips to Great America and the zoo, contests and prizes. For further information, one may contact the church office, 344-0557. Dedication ceremony pays respect to donors Congregation to hear former pastor A touching ceremony dedicated the new chapel in Memorial Hospital last weekend, conducted by mem bers of the Woodstock Ministerial Association. Those who serve in the hospital were remembered, prayers being given to "bless those whom you have called to study and practice the art of healing and to the prevention of disease and pain. Sanctify this hospital as a place of care and healing." The Rev. William Bergman, pastor of St. Anne's Episcopal Church; the Rev. Kenneth Ahlstrand, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church; and the Rev. Earl Kinney, pastor of the First Baptist Church, conducted the dedication. Lee Pesce, executive director of Memorial Hospital, acknowledged con tributions of Mr. and Mrs. Chester Gould and Mrs. Carolyn Schmidt for the development of the chapel. Mrs. Schmidt said the gift in the name of her husband Harold is in a real sense a community participation in the chapel's development since contributions were made by many people to the fund honoring Harold at the time of his death. The Goulds were thrilled and emotionally moved by the completion of the chapel-a project motivated by Edna Gould about two and a half years ago -when she said she felt a chapel should be incorporated in the hosptial for the use of patients, their families and members of the hospital staff. Reflecting on the service of the hospital to the community, Mrs. Gould said she and Chester have lived near Woodstock for 50 years "and we have used the hospital many times-an out standing hospital with won derful, caring people." The Rev. Ahlstrand dedicated the altar, praying that God "Grant that all who gather at this holy table may be fed, refreshed, united and strengthened for your service." The Rev. Ahlstrand said the altar, which has been loaned to the hospital for the chapel, came from the church building located on Washington St. He added, "The Rev. Roger Kaufman, a longtime member of the hospital board and its president for many years, conducted services from this altar." One highlight of the ceremony was the unveiling of a water- color, painted for the chapel by Tom Trausch, Woodstock artist. Asked to reflect on this beautiful work of art, Trausch said he wanted to provide a painting visually resting and uplifting- "to help create a place to relax, interpret and encourage an uplifting feeling." Shepherd of the Hills youth offer services at mission Suzanne and David Haack prepare for their trip to Nebraska. Ten senior high school youth from Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 404 N. Green St., will spend the week of June 9 through June 16 at Bethphage Mission in Axtell, NB. Beth phage Mission, a home for mentally and physically han dicapped people, is supported by the Lutheran church. During their stay at the mission, the youth will be in volved in a maintenance work project, assist in training sessions with the residents, and will participate in the daily activities of the residents. The week at the mission will provide an opportunity for local youth to be productive in a very positive way with the life of the church as well as serving those in need.
