Allan's Company was the "Honor Company" at graduation, having taken first place in all phases of training. DAVID GRAN Marine 2nd Lt. David G. Gran, son of Gordon and Joann Gran of 7515 Howe Drive, Wonder Lake, was graduated from the Basic School, located at the Marine Corps Development and Education Command in Quantico, Va. It is designed to prepare newly-commissioned officers for assignment to the Fleet Marine Force and em­ phasizes the duties and responsibilities of a rifle platoon commander. ROBIN MOORE Marine Pfc. Robin P. Moore, daughter of Arval and Louise Moore of 201 S. Draper Road, McHenry, has reported for duty with 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing, Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, N.C. KENNETH COLLIS Fireman Apprentice Kenneth J. Collis, son of Kenneth H. Collis of 3308 Skyway Drive, McHenry, recently participated in Composite Training Un- - derway Exercise. He is a crewmember aboard the guided missile destroyer USS Sampson, homeported in Mayport,Fla. Ibe two-week exercise, held near Puerto Rico, included tactical training in anti-surface, anti-air, and anti-submarine warfare. Training in Naval Gunfire Support, command, control and communications, main propulsion and Honrmg* control was also conducted. The Sampson is 437 feet long and has a crew of 354. BRADLEY WILSON Marine Pfc. Bradley W. Wilson, son of William P. and Annette E. Eilson of 3505 Vine St., McHenry, recently par­ ticipated in "Combined Arms Exercise 5-84" in the California desert. He is a member of 1st Marine Division Camp Pen­ dleton, Calif. Conducted at the Marine Corps Air Ground " Combat Center, Twenty-nine Palms, Calif., the exercise was designed to provide realistic combat training and coor­ dination between Marine Corps air and ground units. EDWARD VOGL Edward A. Vogl Jr., son of Edward A. Vogl Sr. of McHenry, has been selected to enter the Navy for Aviation Ap­ prenticeship training this summer. Vogl, a 1984 graduate of McHenry East campus High School will begin his Navy career in September 1984 with ° recruit training and schooling at Great Lakes. CURTIS AMES Marine 2nd Lt. Curtis S. Ames, son of Retired Marine Major and Mrs. Carl S. Ames of McHenry, recently graduated from the Basic School.
