PAGE M-PLAINDEALER-FRIDAY, JUNE IS. 1M4 Items found in residence search allowed as evidence in Lee case By Angela Bwden Plaindealer news service A defense motion to suppress items collected in the search of the Ira Lee residence after his arrest on a murder charge, was denied last week by Chief Cir­ cuit Judge Jack Hoogasian. Defense lawyer Daniel Mengling claimed that police went to the home without a search warrant and that the defendant's wife, Debra, was coerced into giving her consent to the search. Lee, 32, stands charged in connection with the August, 1982, stabbing death of 29-year- old Steven Feldt in the victim's Woodstock apartment. Lee is also charged with home invasion, armed violence and arson in connection with Feldt's death. He was arrested in Oc­ tober, 1983 by Woodstock police and McHenry County sheriff's police. State's Attorney Theodore Floro called four police officers and Mrs. Lee as witnesses during the Friday hearing in 19th Judicial Circuit Court. The officers were Woodstock Police Chief "* Herb Pitzman, Chief Deputy Sheriff George Hendle, Det. Sgt. Randy Beu, of Woodstock police, and Det. Anthony Olszewski of the sheriffs police. Testimony revealed that Mrs. Lee asked about her husband and the nature of the charges and also suggested that she would like to talk to her lawyer before making any statements. Crystal Lake Rd. Participating with them in the drive will be Explorer Scout Post 986. The Explorer Scout Post has been in existence for about one and one-half years and has a membership of 18 boys and girls between the ages of 14 and 21. Explorer Scouts, according to a spokesperson for the post, are dedicated to exploring career opportunities.
