I t V ^ Entertainers sought for King RichardV Faire SECTION 2 - PAGE 3 - PLAINDEALER - WEDNESDAY 1UNK 20 An apprenticeship program is being offered students in­ terested in developing per­ formance proficiency in acting, stage combat, mime, im­ provisation, music, dance, magic, juggling and other related skills through on-tbe-job training at the 12th annual King Richard's Faire, held in Kenosha. All classes will be taught by professional artists who per­ form throughout the Faire. In addi t ion, wide-ranging workshops are conducted just before and during the Faire by • specifically commissioned in­ structors. The apprentices will present a showcase per- City residents life 'down on The "welcome mat" will be out at 20 family farms in six northern Illinois counties on Sunday, June 24, from 1 to 5 p.m. for the 13th annual "Farm Visit Day" tour. All city and town residents are invited to see firsthand how farm animals and crops are raised. ITie entire family will be at the farm to show what life is really like "down on the farm." Open and free to the public, Farm Visit Day is sponsored by the farm and commodity groups in each county and coordinated by the University of Illinois Cooperative Extension Service. Each farm will be different and visitors are encouraged to visit several farms. Participating counties have prepared pamphlets, available from the County Extension Offices, providing further details about the farms. In­ terested families who would like formance during the last two weekends of the Faire, said Michael Dvorak, apprenticeship program director. King Richard's Faire is located at The Illinois-Wisconsin state line at 1-94 and Russell Road, north of Great America. The theatrical interpretation of a Renaissance Faire at festival time is scheduled for weekends July 7 through August 19. Applicants must demonstrate training in at least one of the five the seven weekends and selected weekday afternoons and or evenings prior to the Faire, he said. Applicants to the 1984 ap­ prenticeship program must send a letter specifying why they wish to enroll in the program, enclose a resume, picture and references. Applicants meeting the basic requirements will be contacted by telephone at which time an interview will be scheduled. For information and an ap­ plication, contact King Richard's Faire, 12420 128th Street, Kenosha, Wis. 53142 or phone (312) 689-2823. State grants available in and interest in the performing child preventive health arts or interest in the Renaissance period, said Dvorak. Funds totalling $237,685.00 from the Maternal and Child Health Services Block Grant and Preventive Health and Health Services Block Grant will be made available by the Illinois Department of Public Health to qualified local entities in the West Chicago Region, which includes service to McHenry County. The State Health Department is accepting applications from entities capable of providing maternal and child health services aimed at reducing infant mortality and preventive health and health services aimed at comprehensive health services. Qualified entities interested in submitting proposals should contact Dr. George W. Mosley, Illinois Department of Public Health, 245 W.
