Girls' choir in concert June 24 The Ganddal Pikekor (Girls' Choir) from Sandnes, Norway, is now on a two-month tour of the United States and will perform at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 404 N. Green St., McHenry, Sunday. June 24. at 8 p.m. All area churches and the general public are invited to this special concert. No ticket purchase is required, however, a free-will donation will be taken on behalf of the choir. The girls, ages 17-22, sing in national costumes, and their repertoire includes classical works, Scandinavian folk songs, hymns and Christian songs. Over the years, their per formances have become a trademark of good singing. The Ganddal Girls' Choir was started in 1960 by Audun Vagle, still a leader of the choir, who received his education as organist and music teacher at the Conservatories in Stavanger and Oslo. The group has received several awards during its 24-year history, and has visited countries in Europe, the Far East, New Zealand and the United States. Today, it totals more than 200 members, with 20 traveling on the current tour, accompanied by Geir Arve Helvig, an accomplished symphony orchestra musician. Alliance invites all to attend film series A series of five end-times films based on the book of Revelation will be shown at the Alliance Church, 3815 W. Bull Valley Rd., McHenry. The series begins Sunday, July 1, at 7 p.m., with "A Thief in the Night," and continues suc ceeding Sunday nights with "A Distant Thunder." "Image of the Beast," and "The Prodigal Planet I & II." "A Thief in the Night" is a dramatic portrayal of what could happen when Jesus Christ returns. This suspenseful story centers around Patty Meyers (played by Patty Dunning Risinger) a young woman caught up in living for the present, with little concern about the future. What happens when this thinking finally cat ches up with her provides an action-packed, unforgettable drama. The fast-moving pace evolves into increasingly tense moments as the Rapture predicted in Bible prophecy takes place, leaving Patty in a world which forces her to make a choice: either for a life of fleeing the inevitable sufferings and death; or for UNITE, a new world government which rejects Jesus Christ and forces citizens to receive the "mark" warned against by God. Suspense builds to a thought provoking climax as Patty faces the consequences of her choice. This movie portrays the Biblical predictions, "There will be no place to hide" (Rev. 20:11). As one viewer com mented, "The film in essence illustrates the consequences of indecision. It leaves the audience thinking. "We hope that many who are concerned about the future will avail themselves of this op portunity to hear of the peace that comes from knowing that God is in control." says Pastor Gerald Robertson. £•• • - •• J f Many who have seen tliese films before will want to view them again. Job 23:10b Unity circulation day focuses on philosophy of sharing "By putting things which are no longer useful to us back into circulation we create a vacuum in our lives and in our homes and thus draw to us the things we need," states the Rev. Rudy Leidig To anyone who would like to see a practical demon stration of this principle, the Rev. Leidig extends an in vitation to Unity Church of Crystal Lake's Circulation Day which will be held Saturday, June 23, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The people of Unity, these past weeks, have been searching their homes from the cellars to the rafters, for all manner cf treasures no longer suited to their particular needs. Satur day, these items will be offered, free of charge, to the public, with no obligation whatsoever and no money changing hands. This scene, familiar to Unity congregations throughout the country, is not a new concept at Unity of Crystal Lake. Past Circulation Days have drawn an enthusiastic response from people of surrounding com munities. "Jesus Christ taught us that as we freely give, we receive," explains the Rev. Leidig. "At Unity, we seek ways to express this approach to practical Christianity. There need be no lack in this abundant land of ours if we all freely shared of our goods and our love; and if we all chose to believe in abundance, not lack." There will be a potluck picnic subsequent to the giveaway and everyone is invited to come and share good fqod, laughter, love and the experiences of the day. Unity Church of Chrystal Lake is located at 3 Chalet Dr., behind the Arnold Palmer Golf Range near the intersection of routes 31 and 14. For additional in formation call 455-2479. Elm St. between 3:30 and 7:30 p.m., Monday, June 25. The chairman for the drive LeRoy Gerth, said "McHenry has one of the best Emergency Medical Service systems in the country, but the hospital can not make or buy blood. This is truly a gift of life." Persons between the ages of 17 and 65, weighing over 102 pounds, and in reasonably good health, can and should donate. Summer is the time of year when blood is needed, because supplies are depleted by an increase in outdoor activities, and outdoor accidents. Epson Computer Systems* EASIEST TO USE.
