SECTION 2 - PAGE • - PLAINDEALER - FRIDAY, JUNE 22,1984 Kids show pets who's boss at park department dog show Early morning fire causes damage to porch on home Hie McHenry Park Department's Kids Dog Show was a surprising test of who's the master. For several pairs of ldds and their dogs, the kids did not always rule. But for Heather Carroll and her sheltie Lucky, first place in the Best Behaved category meant that Heather was the boss and they both won. Mandy Jo LaSusa with Irish Setter Lady placed second and Lori Mack with Blaze and Melissa Wisniewski with Salem tied for third. Nobody argued with the judges' decision to give first place in the Funniest Dressed Dog to Sheila Roy and her English Bulldog Lady Diana Dog, who came wearing a t-shirt saying: Built like a Mack Truck. LaSusa and Carroll tied for second place and Jenny Cain with her mixed dog Frisky took third place in the Funniest Dressed Dog category. Matt Hemker and his Alaskan Malamute Meister Spitze claimed first place in the Largest Dog contest, while LaSusa placed second. The smallest dog went to Tedi Cvitkovic and his pocket-sized white Maltese Princess. Cain and Amy Schmidt with their Cockapoo Susie took third. Carroll and Lucky captured first place in the Best Looking Dog competition. Hemker and LaSusa placed second and Kelley Carle and her Lhasa Apso Ginger took third. Carroll also placed first in the Best Trick division. Shannon Cajthaml with her Schnauzer Katie took second and LaSusa placed third. The Smallest Ears wait to Cajthaml. The Shortest Tail went to Roy. The Longest Tail went to LaSusa and the Largest Ears wait to Carle. Carroll and Lucky had good looks, talentv and personality to take the Best of Show award for the Dog Show. ••• * ***** w «L * 4 iatss* A fire early last Saturday morning caused extensive damage to the porch area of a home of Robert Glosson, at 4900 Parkview, in McCullom Lake. Co. 1 of the McHenry Town ship Fire Department was alerted at 12:04 a.m. Saturday and called for mutual aid from Co. 2 in Johnsburg a short time later. Upon arrival, fire fighters found the porch of the structure on fire and brought the flames under control in about five minutes, according to Chris Bennett, deputy chief. Bennett said the home was vacant at the time and the cause of the blaze is under vestigation. in- One fire fighter, Dennis Smith, was treated and released at McHenry Hospital for a cut hand, Bennett said. .
