PLAIN i i i » • i Sports log Cepulis wins run for cancer Wade Cepulis of McHenry was the first runner to cross the finish line in the McHenry Run for Cancer held Sunday at Knox Park. His time for the 10k (6.2 miles) was 31:26. John Mclnerney, also of McHenry, finished second with a time of 31:30. Mike Eisele was third in 31:33. Chris Jensen was the first female finisher in a time of 38:22, with Kelly Ed­ wards second in 40:33. Carrie Moitell was third in 41:42. Almost 200 runners took part in the event which included both a 10k race and a two-mile fun run. Finishing first in the two- mile race was Tom Bell with a time of 10:05. Armondo Rodriquez followed in 10:06. The first two-mile female finisher was Pam Bradley in 13:19. Harker to play football for Knox Johnsburg High School football standout Jerry Harker lias announced he will be at­ tending Knox College and will play football. Harker was captain of the 1963 Skyhawk squad. He was also active in weightlifting arid track. YMCA moto cross race scheduled The Lake Region YMCA will be hosting an NBL Sanctioned bicycle moto cross race July 11. Registration and check-in will be at 7:30 p.m., with race time set at 8 p.m. The race will be sanctioned and non-sansctioned racers. Moccasin and Papoose runs- set The third annual Moccasin and Papoose, sponsored by the Fox Lake Chamber of Corn- amerce, are slated for Sunday, Aug. 5. Both runs start at Grant High School at 8 a.m. and continues through downtown Fox Lake. The first 200 entrants receive a running shirt. Awards in the Moccasin (6.2 miles-lOk) run will be trophies to the male and female overall winners and trophies will go to the first, second and third place finishers of the male and female race divisions.
