The 1964 edition will be the league's 29th annual affair, and will commence with the seven- year old midget all-stars competing at 11 a.m. Each season the league provides an instructional clinic on Saturday mornings for boys under the mini-division age. This game is their opportunity to perform. The other all-star contests will run as follows: Noon - eight-year olds. 1 p.m. - 12-year olds. 1:30 p.m. - nine-year olds. 3 p.m. - 10-year olds and 13- year olds. 4:40 p.m. - 11-year olds. In addition to the all-star festivities, each team in the major division will select a player to represent them in a battle of strength and power - the home run derby. This event will take place at 6 p.m. on the Minor Field. At 6:30 p.m., the coaches will show their baseball prowess in a coaches' game. Recent games have produced everything from dropped balls to collisions. Hie coaches will also be the sitting ducks in a dunk tank, scheduled to run all day. The games will consist of two teams - one from each division - pitted against each other in every age group. Refreshments will be available at the park, as will grills. Those attending should furnish their own food. McHenry majors pulled-in McHenry Men's 12-inch Snack Shop rallies; seizes first place In a battle for first place, Jack's Snack Shop - McHenry Oil rallied with seven runs in the sixth to overcome a 4-3 deficit and defeat the Fox Hole Tap, 10-5, in Men's 12-inch Softball Monday at Knox Park. The Snack Shop rose to the occasion once again, as Joe Bauml led off the eventful sixth with a triple, and scored on a sacrifice fly by Bob Michels. After Pete Blackburn tripled, singles by John Oeffling, Jim Grabowski, Steve Himplemann and Jim Pinkstaff accounted for the big inning. Doug Oeffling had three hits to lead the winners. Michels had two hits and three RBI, and Himplemann knocked in two runs. Bauml, John Oeffling and Mike Bauml added two hits each. Joe Dehn and Mark Vogt had two RBI each to lead Fox Hole. Vinnie Freund and Jim Yaworski had two hits each, as the losers' record dropped to 11-2, a half-game off the pace-setting Snack | Shop in the Eastern Division. Jack's/McHenry Oil 11, Doherty's 10 The Snack Shop had to come from behind again in the nightcap, scoring four in the seventh to edge Doherty's, 11-10. Doherty's took an 8-2 lead, scoring six in the second, and led 8-7 going into the final stanza. Steve Mai hit a two-run inside-the- park homer in the seventh to stake Doherty's to a 10-7 advantage. But Dan McAuliffe led the Snack Shop seventh off with a double, and Jim Pinkstaff, Joe Bauml and Bob Michels followed with singles to load the bases for Pete Blackburn, who doubled in the tying run. Mike Bauml's sacrifice fly scored Michels with the game- winner. Michels was a sparkling 6 for 6 in the doubleheader, raising his season average to .750. Snack Shop is 11-2; Doherty's 8-4 and three games out in the West. Rusty Nail Inn 14, Brake Parts 6 4 . The Rusty Nail Inn claimed their 11th victory of the year against only one loss as they scored in every inning but the first in crushing Brake Parts. John Meyers, Ray Thelen and Don Bentz had three hits each to lead the 22-hit Nail onslaught. Bentz' totals included a homer and triple, Thelen a homer and double. John Connell had three hits and three RBI. For Brake Parts, which fell to 4-8, Rick Neiss and Gary Elam had three safeties apiece. Fox Hole Tap 16, Lakeside Inn 3 The Fox Hole Tap banged out 18 hits - 13 for extra bases - as home runs by Bill Meyers and Gary Gilpin paved the way to an easy 10-3 win over Lakeside Inn. Meyers hit a three run homer - his sixth - in the sixth, and added an RBI double. Gilpin's solo shot led off the second, and he added two RBI. Mike Peterson had two doubles and a triple, scored twice, and knocked in two. Joe Dehn had hits, raising his average to .714, second in the league. Jim Yaworski scored three runs. Lakeside is 2-9, Fox Hole 11-2. JOHNSBURG ORIOLES 8, McHENRY OWLS 7 The Orioles scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to edge the Owls, 8-7. ~ A single, walk and wild pitch put Oriole runners on second and third, and a single over the outfield was the game- winner. Jason Lazar/ Dan Mazurek, Mike Hetterman and Ryan Penoyer led the Owl attack. McHENRY OWLS 7, WON- DER LAKE A'* 4 i Hie Owls rode the arm of Brian Bromley to victory in the recent game. Bromley went the distance for the winners, allowing only two hits, while fanning 14. Bromley added a hit and run scored to the Owl offense. Bill Creutz, Marc Siefert and Ryan Penoyer each had two hits for^t|g Owls, Creutz' hits a double and triple. CONDORS 3, ROYALS 2 Tom Johnson had two hits, and pitched a three-hitter to lead the Condors. Jim Sizemore had three hits, including his second homer of the year. Jamie Franklin and Jeff Lewis had two hits each. RAVENS 13, CARDINALS 5 Mike Lazar had four RBIs, and Ed Fair three to back the four-hit pitching of Brian Buell as the Ravens topped the Cards. Rich Larson had two hits and two RBIs for the Ravens. Buell struck out 12. ROADRUNNERS 12, OWLS 1 Jim Simon hurled a one-hitter, and added three hits to the winners' total. Simon also had three RBIs. Simon lost his shutout bid in the sixth, as a dropped third strike and an errant throw to first allowed the runner to score. Marc Sonnison was brought up from the minors, and con tributed two hits and an RBI. Ian Papineau had the Owls only hit. BLUEBIRDS 10, CONDORS 5 The Bluebirds had six extra- base hits, all doubles, to lead them to victory. Dave Cable's ORIOLES 11, FALCONS 7 The Falcons lashed out 13 hits, but couldnt capitalize, as the Orioles, led by Steve Iacullo's two hits, triumphed. Ronnie Robinette, Kelly Roach and Cris Crow all had two hits the losing Falcons. Brtjpfr r ̂ sternock allowed only one walk, while striking out 11, to notch the victory. BLUEBIRDS 17, EAGLfSS 4 Dan Smith tossed a nifty four- hitter, walking only two- Every Bluebird player in the lineup had at least a hit, led by Mike Smith, Dave Cable and Joe Kinnerk, each with three. The Eagles were led by Mark Sonnichsen, who had two hits and scored a run after being called up from the minors. R O A D R U N N E R S 1 0 , EAGLES 5 Jimmy Simon led the way for the winners, hurling a five-hitter and collecting two singles in the Roadrunners victory. Roadrunner second baseman Graig McGrath robbed the Eagles of three hits with his fine fielding, helping the Roadrunners to record their 13th victory against no losses. The loss dropped the Eagles to 4-10. They were led by Mike Haffner and Dennis Suchumkski, each of whom had two hits. CONDORS 17, INDIANS 1 The Condors crushed the Indians, as pitcher Jeff Lewis allowed only two hits, fanning 12. Legion pounds Richmond, 7-2 Pintail Pony Division YEGGE ACCOUNTING 23, WALLY'S BIKE HAVEN 7 Yegge's scored five in the first and 14 in the second to win going away. The winners pounded out 18 hits, led by Rachel Prushinski's three, to go along with five RBI. Lisa Johnson was 3 for 4, and scored four runs. Sheri Knaack was 3 for 3, scoring three times and knocking in three. Knaack also was the winning pitcher, allowing eight hits, striking out four. YEGGE ACCOUNTING 13, STATE FARM INSURANCE 12 Yegge's rallied from a 10-1 deficit with eight in the fifth, one in the sixth and three in the seventh, to nip State Farm. The win boosted Yegge's record to 12-0, finishing first in the league, a full four games ahead of runner-up Sullivan Foods. Rachel Pruchinski was the winning pitcher, going four innings, giving up seven hits and six runs. The Yegge offensive leaders were Lee Lundquist, with four hits, all for extra bases, and five runs scored; and Michel Stropoli, Kristy Cullison and Laura Yegge, all 3 for 4. Renee Faciana had three hits and three runs scored for State Farm. Attempting to gear his team up for a strong tournament in Madison, Wis., this weekend, McHenry American Legion coach Russ Williams gave his pitching corps plenty of work Wednesday. McHenry crushed host Rich mond 7-2, scoring six in the fourth to break open a scoreless tie. Bill Cameron picked up the win, pitching two strong innings and allowing just one hit, while striking out four. Pat Dunne, Steve Banazinski and Ross Vehring also got some mound work. Pat Cameron ripped a home run in the eventful fourth, and Dunne's triple knocked in three. An error on the play allowed Dunne to score, and the damage was done. McHenry could manage only eight hits for the game, but was able to string five together in the fourth. Richmond had nine hits for the game, scoring single runs in the fourth and seventh, but stranded eight runners. Kris Teuber was 2 for 4 for' McHenry, with a run scored and an RBI. Teuber singled in the sixth, following an error by the Richmond shortstop which allowed Brad Snyder to reach, * Bill Miscovich followed Teuber's single with one of his own, and Dunne's triple cleared the bases. Pat Cameron's homer followed, and McHenry had all the runs it would need. The winners travel to Madison for a tournament today, Saturday and Sunday, and return home to meet Crystal Lake Monday. V
