UNUSUAL WEDDING Rhonda Ackerman, daughter of Bev and Charles Ackerman was married in a beautiful Southern setting three weeks ago. Rhonda, a certified air traffic controller in the Navy married a fellow Navy person. They met while taking some extended schooling in Memphis. They were married on the Lone Star River boat on Town Lake in Austin, Texas. It was really a pretty wedding with her sister Rachel as bridesmaid and Angela, a friend was matron of honor. They waited in the lobby of the Hyatt Regency until ail the guests were on board and then Charles went up to get them. They walked over some stepping stones in a brook and down some stone steps to the lake. They waited on the lower deck until the boat reached a secluded cove and then they came up to the top deck where the ceremony took place. The reception was on the lower deck. Because they are both in the Navy a boat wedding seemed fitting. Rhonda wore her aunt's wedding dress, which has a hoop skirt and bustle and lots of lace. A real southern belle. Rachel and Angela wore blue dresses with bustle and picture hats. Judy Koeller made the wedding bouquets, corsages and boutonnieres with silk flowers. Resae made the wedding cake. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Cordery of McHenry were visiting their daughter Carol and Rodney Ackerman and family at the time of the wedding, so they got to see the wedding. Carol and Rodney's son Luke was so ex- sets 8of cited at having two grandparents around same time. at the ANOTHER SON Mr. and Mrs. Robert (Beth) Preston are the parents of their second son, Bradley Robert, born on Friday, July 13. little Bradley was 21 inches long and weighed in at 6 lbs. 10 oz. Maternal grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Andy (Mary) Stiensdorfer of McHenry and paternal grandparents ar Mr. and Mrs James (Joan) Preston of Ringwood. SURPRISE PARTY Though their anniversary date was July 5, Dorothy and Monte Hosier were guests of honor at a surprise 40th anniversary celebration last Sunday. About 40 friends and neighbors gathered at the home of Wally and Lorraine Coari on the Fox River to help the Hosiers celebrate the occasion. Their son and family, Gary and Jill Hosier with little Katy of Warrenville co-hosted with the Coaris. Later in the day a buffet was served with assistance from the neighbors. The Hosiers' daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Larry Larson of Sarasota, Fla. were unable to attend but Linda placed a phone call to them that afternoon. It was an enjoyable afternoon with everyone enjoying the Coaris' lawn, visiting and watching the heavy boat traffic on the river. Our best wishes Dorothy and Monte for many more happy years together. REUNION About 50 members of the Benoy clan gathered at the Moan-Mecklinburg home at Woodstock last Sunday af ternoon. Those attending were from this area. It was a most enjoyable time of visiting and reminiscing. Sorry that some of the folks from away could not be present. reunion was held earlier lal this yttnr Randy Moan has enlisted in the Marines and will be leaving for Lakemoor/Lilymoor: Local talents added to bed races RACE FOR M.D. The Bed Race held as part of the Fiesta Day festivities last Sunday, was a time of great amusement for viewers as well as participants. Our local entry from Fritzsche Industrial Park, was a bright red canopy bed. Using their talents to win in the race against M.D., were Bob and Scott Fritzsche, Paul .Fredette, Steve Gibson and Tom Pierce. Unfortunately, the canopied bed had a problem and spun out 'and was eliminated from the finals. However, they were included in the second run, due to number 10 giving up in the first round, and did receive a consolaAi< ̂ Margaret Karas 385-4934 Debbie Vornkahl helped with another of the entries; Bobby Miller's "Old Lady in the Shoe". Bobby needed help in finding a picture which showed where the smokestack should be, so Debbie found the information in our library. Unfortunately, this entry, too, was doomed to failure. However, it did come in last, because the previous bed broke down and couldn't make the finish line. But first, last or show, all the entrants had a great time, with the real winner being the money turned over to teh Muscular Dystrophy fund. I DUNKING TIME r. There wasn't a dry body at the ; close of the Beach Party held at H Lakemoor's beach on July 21, for the youngsters of the area. Hie Lakemoor Civic and Im provement Association, spearheaded by Donna Hall and Betsy Pahlke, sponsored the 8 great fun time, supplying the refreshments and overseeing the games. Lakemoor's policeman, Christ Felde, was dropped into the dunk tank by the enthusiastic youngsters, who later took their turns getting dunked. This was one great party where everyone who came, left all wet. FIREMAN PRACTICE How do our volunteer firemen learn to handle fires? One way was demonstrated Monday afternoon when the old motel building located in Fritzsche Estates, was set on fire by, and then controlled by, the local fire department. Owner Herb Fritzsche had determined that the building was no longer an asset, and had become somewhat of a hazard, and had given the fire depart ment permission to raze it. The surrounding grass area was hosed down to prevent the fire from doing any damage. Among the concerned watchers was close resident Fritz Koerner, who also appraised neighbor Mildred Rowe of the fire's progress. The huge cloud of black smoke as seen from Peterson park, caused former home owner Bettie Tomlinson to drive over and see what was burning. All was controlled, and all is gone, with the residue not burned, taken down and disposed of by members of the Fritzche Industrial Park. That building had housed many between-home users, and now it is as if it never existed. So be it. WELCOME VISIT Longtime former Lilymoor residents, Don and LaVergne Leski, stopped in to check things out at the new library. Their move to McHenry is only a few miles, but it could be Arizona for all the times we get to say "Hello". Don was here to oversee son Gary's progress in painting the old homestead on Lily Lake Road. The two-story house looks very neat and white again. The current residents keep the yard clipped, just as the Leskes did when they lived here. HAPPY DAYS Anthony Gurske, Leroy Lippert and Casey Krawczyk the service in August. Good luck to you, Randy. BARBEQUE Although it was a very hot day for the men doing the cooking of chicken last Satuniay afternoon, it was a pleasant day for those who enjoyed eating food under the tent on the Ringwood church lawn. Over 500 dinners were served. About $1,800 was cleared with half of the money going to the church property fund and half to the regular church budget. We greatly appreciate aU the support given to this project by both the workers and those who bought tickets.
