The Easter Seal Society for McHenry County believes exercise plays an important role in the physical and mental preparation before the upcoming event. A prenatal therapeutic exercise program is offered by Easter Seals each Wednesday at 7 p.m. to help mothers-to-be enjoy the positive benefits of proper exercise. The exercise program, con­ ducted by physical therapist Lois Parez, is designed to build muscle strength, flexibility, endurance, positive posture, and improve breathing and relaxation techniques. Each participant undergoes a s imple , comprehens ive evaluation with Parez prior to beginning the exercise program. From the information, a program is tailor-made to meet the individual needs of each participant. Brief discussions giving rationale to each exercise activity and how it relates to the pregnancy, labor and delivery are held throughout each step of the program. Questions from participants are encouraged. Participation in the program requires a written prescription from a physician. Cost of the program is $20 per month.
