SECTION 2 - PAGE 10 - PLAINDEALER - WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 8,1984 Prenatal program set Two of the Programs of the Public Health Nursing Division of » the McHenry County Department of Health are the Mabernal Health Program and the Child Health Program. Both of these programs are involved in the provision of Prenatal care to indigent pregnant women in McHenry County. The purpose of good Prenatal care is to afford protection to both the mother and the baby. Concern over lack of Prenatal care being obtained by the medically indigent pregnant woman led to the Health Department applying for the receipt of grant monies from the Illinois Department of Public Health to initiate a prenatal program. Physicians willing to par ticipate in the progam have signed written agreements with the Health Department. In dividuals who are not on public aid and meet the criteria are referred to a participating physician for prenatal care, delivery, and post-natal medical care. The Department of Health has a prenatal nurse who coor dinates the program, counsels the patient, involves her in educational classes and makes home visits on the infant and mother after the delivery. During the past year, there were 30 children delivered under this program. Also, 100 patients were referred from this project toother resources. A normal caseload in the program is approximately 45 pregnant women. Women who would like ad ditional information regarding the prenatal program should contact the McHenry County Department of Health, division of Public Health Nursing, at (815 ) 338-2040 Ext. 101. Librarian will speak at Genealogical Society meeting Libraries will be the topic of the subject to be presented Thursday, August 9 by Roberta Smith, president of the McHenry County Genealogical Society and fcrmer librarian. The questions "What can I expect to find in a library about my family?" "What libraries in the McHenry County area have genealogical information?" "How do I find what I want, once I get there?" will all be an swered. 'Hie monthly meeting of the family history group will be held at 7:30 p.m., in the cafeteria of Central High School, Crystal Lake, Franklin Street, located between Walkup Avenue and McHenry Avenue. Everyone is welcome to attend and get acquainted with techniques necesary for good genealogical research. The meetings also afford the opportunity to get acquainted with others who are doing family history and may have ideas and suggestions for research problems.
