Pre-School or the three- day P.M. Pre-School. The purpose of both classes is the same: to widen the child's experiences, stimulate in­ tellectual growth and creativity and provide an environment in which children can learn and play together. me educational program is planned to provide experiences encouraging cooperation and sharing, self-reliance, language development, pre-mathematics and science skills, aesthetic and musical expression and physical coordination. Field trips extend classroom experiences to the community environment. The classes are of 16 weeks duration. A complete pre-school for three and four-year-olds, A.M. Pre-School will meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The fee is $32 per month. P.M. Preschool is a three-day program for the four to five- year-old that expands upon what is taught in A.M. Preschool. More emphasis is placed on language art and science-based activities as the student is prepared for entrance into ldndergarten. The class will meet Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, 12:30 to 3 p.m. The ^ost is $42 per month. A special program for pre­ schoolers this fall will be the Art and Music class, designed to encourage the two or three-year- old to explore the world of rtiyth- m instruments, movement and songs. It will meet Monday and Wednesday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The fee is $30 per month. The Parent and Tot Program, for toddlers 18 to 32 months of age, continues to be popular. Hie toddler is introduced to play with other children, varied art activities, fingerplays, songs and group games-all enjoyed with the security of having their parent nearby. The program will be held mornings, 9:30 to 11 a.m. The fee is $16 per month. Class will meet for 16 weeks. The MCC Child Care Center is state licensed and run by Child Care Specialist Dorothy Tref- zger and her staff, who provide pre-school children with a variety of play and develop­ mental activities aimed at helping them achieve their highest potential. In addition to being a pre­ school, the center provides quality day care on both la reserved time and drop-in ba^s and serves as a lab school for MCC students studying child care. The center follows MCC's calendar and opens for the fall semester on Monday, Aug. 27. It is located in the Ridgefield Presbyterian Church. Registration is handled directly by the Child Care Center. Quilt giveaway to benefit county Easter Seal Society embroidered by Easter Seal volunteers. The quilt will be given away on November 21. It will be on display at the McHenry County Antiques Show Sept. 8 and 9 and later at the Calico Goose in Crystal Lake. Partridgeberry, Dogwood Violet, and Dorf Iris are just some of the many wildflowers which will be featured in an "Appalachian Trail Wildflower Quilt" being prepared by Ginger Jacobson to raise funds for the McHenry County East Seal's r e h a b i l i t a t i v e t h e r a p y programs.
