Have Fun! Win Prizes! Be Somebody I Construction of an X-shaped 50-bed addition to the Valley Hi Nursing Home is on schedule, and opening is anticipated in mid-November, Bill Morefield, administrator, of the county home, said. Workmen are now dry walling the interior. Heavy equipment, such as the new laundry equipment, will soon be moved into position. Furnishings will begin arriving soon after painting is completed, and only part of the cost of furnishings was included in the $1.9 million earmarked for the major project, explained Morefield. About $9,000 has been raised through a "Buy A Brick" program, contributions coming from individuals, businesses and civic groups. Morefield would like to raise another $5,000 at least in the same manner. The new addition became a major topic for discussion by the Valley Hi nursing home com mittee in 1980 as the waiting list grew. By the spring of 1983, the McHenry County Board ap proved the $1.9 million ex penditure and ground-breaking followed in June, 1983. Morefield said he has a waiting list with 50 people seeking space. He said other nursing home facilities in the county are nearly filled to capacity. The construction underway includes three resident wings and a dining room in a cross pattern. A nursing station is in the middle of that cross. Also to be included will be a new ac tivity room, laundry facilities, class room, two offices, a rtfew resident lounge area, and examination and treatment rooms. Morefield said remodeling of the existing building will follow. Some services will be shifted within the present bulding as space becomes available. When compieieu, Valley Hi will be licensed for 20 intermediate care residents and 97 skilled nursing care residents. Members of the Valley Hi committee are Ervin Walters, chairman; Tom Huemann, Bill Hubbard, Robert Vorisek and Richard Meyers. • ««* The 50-bed addition to Valley Hi Nursing Home should be ready for occupancy by mid-November.
