Development program helps children from birth to three The Easter Seal Child Development program for children birth to three years old is a team approach geared to help youngsters develop skills appropriate for their age group. The program includes a social worker, a speech, a physical, and an occupational therapist. Any child who has multiple delays in language, cognitive, fine or gross ^lotor skill development may be referred to the program by a physician or the family. Prior to placement into the program, the child is tested by each therapist to determine which skills 'need to be developed. Fine and gross motor skills, feeding skills, language skills, sensory integration, self- t help and socialization skills are I taught through tlie program. . Parenting skill sessions are periodically presented by the social worker and parents are urged to be an active participant in the program. Family members should reinforce learned skills in the home set­ ting. The Child Development program is open to anyone living in McHenry County and, in certain cases where closer facilities are unavailable, to families residing outside of McHenry County. Sessions are held twice a week. Class size is limited for optimum learning.
