Kuhn, a Woodstock resident with a business in Huntley, defeated Buenzli, a McHenry 100I graduate, on the fiftH hole of the playoff with a sensational sand wedge from 70 yards n in the middle of the fairway. His wedge landed 16 inches from the pin on his second shot while Buenzli's second shot from the left side of the fairway landed on the green 15 feet from the pin. Buenzli's third shot was a valiant effort on the side hill hole, the ball rolling within two inches of the cup before curling downhill about 18 inches. Kuhn sank his 16-incher to grab the title moments after the sun had set over the beautiful Plum Tree National Golf Course. KUHN HAD FOUR BIRDIES IN posting a round of 74 Sunday to go with his 79 during the windswept Friday action. Buenzli had a 78 Friday and a 75 Sunday for his 153. Kuhn had a chance to win on the eighteenth hole but missed a four-foot putt to bring about the sudden death action. Corey had an 81-77-158, followed by Jerry Turner, 163, and Kurt Slucker, 169.
