SEPTEMBER 14, lt*4 ________ ______ Life Today t «**•'* « Bride sings her own original composition at her wedding League of Women Voters president Barbara Marrs is busy planning with Judy Easterburg and Cindy Swartzloff for the league's membership campaign, "Make Your Mark on Politics." Plan coffee & brunch The former Susan Hill and Jay Huemann were pronounced "Man and Wife" during a 12:30 p.m. ceremony performed Aug. 11, in the First United Church, Little Falls, Minn. The nuptials were presided over by clergyman, Marvin Ediger, in a setting of fresh garden flowers. Prior to approaching the altar, the bride hesitated at the rear of the church and sang one of her original compositions. Additional music appropriate for the occasion was performed by the Brahms Trio and in cluded a flute and piano duet. James and Margaret Hill, 1900 Thomas Dr., Little Falls, are the parents of the bride. The bridegroom is the son of William and Judith Huemann, 2503 Johnsburg Rd., McHenry. The bride wore a white satin gown, fashioned with a fitted bodice, embellished with pearls and lace, featuring a boat neckline, ending in a V shape at the back waistline, and long sleeves, secured with small covered buttons. The skirt was banded at the waist by a chiffon cummerbund with a large pouf on the back, and flowed into a chapel length train. H^r short veil was secured to a wreath of small satin roses and pearls, and she carried a bouquet of one dozen pink roses, graced with baby's breath. Attending her sister as maid of honor was Marj Hill of Little Falls. Bridesmaids were Julie Johnson of St. Cloud, Minn., Patty Haller of Madison, Wis., and Emily Huemann of John sburg. Attendants were attired in pale pink, soft cotton and polyesterv floor length dresses. The fitted bodice, designed with elbow length sleeves and a V shape back, was adorned with pink lace. To complete the look, they each wore white, crocheted gloves, a necklace of pearls, and carried a single, long-stemmed pink rose with baby's breath. Handling the duties of best man was the groom's brother. Todd Huemann of Ft. Sill, Okla. Groomsmen were Darrel May of Chicago, Rex Rector of Mankato, Minn, and Jeff Hill of St. Paul, Minn. Bill and Tony Huemann of Johnsburg, the groom's brothers, served as ushers. The groom wore black slacks, white shirt with standup collar, white dinner jacket, white tie and cummerbund. Groomsmen were similarly attired, with dusty rose tie and cnimmerbund; and the fathers of the couple were identical, but with black tie and cummerbund. The mother of the bride chose a light pink crepe, street length dress, pleated down the front, with long sleeves, a high ruffle collar and belt; light gray pumps; and a wrist corsage of roses and carnations. The groom's mother selected a mauve pink chiffon, street length dress, with petal sleeves and skirt; gray and pink candy- stripe shoes; and a similar corsage. A catered reception for 225 guests was held on the lawn of the bride's parents' home on the Mississippi river. The newlyweds both received B.S. degrees from Mankato State yniversity in 1984. She, in Vocal Music Education K-12 ; and he, Elementary Education. They are employed as music and elementary educators, respectively. The new Mr. and Mrs. Huemann are "at home" at 5780 E. River Rd., Minneapolis, Minn. The Woodstock-McHenry League of Women Voters invites all interested people to either a membership brunch at 10 a.m., or a membership coffee at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 20. The two meetings share the theme, "Make Your Mark on Politics" and will feature a humorous skit highlighting the goals and positions of the league. Although the league works in field of politics, it is a non partisan organization. Its purpose is to encourage people to take an active interest in gpvernment and to demonstrate that the informed citizen can influence legislation. The community depends on the league for leadership in voter registration and "get-out- the-vote" campaigns; for reliable, impartial facts on candidates and issues; and for training of election officials. League members participate in unit meetings that deal with government issues chosen by the members. Resource com mittees research and share vital information at these meetings. Members may also par ticipate in the league's observer corps which attends meetings of local government bodies. Others are active in the area of voter service. Any persons interested in learning more about the group are cordially invited to attend the brunch or coffee. Limited babysitting during the brunch is available. For more information, call Barb Marrs, 385-1434, or Julie Jessup, 385-7595.
