Witt will be earning credits toward an associate degree in applied sciences through the Com munity College of the Air Force while attending basic and other technical training schools. Ranch, McHenry, has completed the tactical communications systems course at Fort Sill, OK. During the course, students were taught basic electronics, receiver and transmitter repair for tactical communications. ERVIN GALL Navy Seaman Ervin F. Gall Jr., son of Wilma D. and Ervin F. Gall Sr. of 2916 N. Wooded Lane, McHenry, recently departed on a deployment to the Western Pacific and Indian Oceans. He is a crewmember aboard the destroyer USS Kinkaid, homeported in San Diego. While deployed, the ship is operating as part of the USS Enterprise aircraft carrier battle group. The Kinkaid is 563 feet long and has a crew of 296. walk planned The final walk in Veteran Acres Prairie for 1984 will be held Sunday, Sept. 30 at 2 p.m. The Friends of Veteran Acres Prairie, a committee of McHenry County chapter of Illinois Audubon, holds the walks on the last Sunday of each month from May through September. They leave from the Crystal Lake Nature Center, 330 N. Main St., Crystal Lake. Bill Wingate, area naturalist, conducts the tours pointing out the high points of the prairie for each month. The September walk will feature the typical prairie grasses in seed (Indian, big blue stem, little blue stem, por cupine, and side oats grama). In addition the gentians will probably be in bloom, along with wingstem, an occasional liatris or blazing star, and numerous goldenrods and asters. The walk will be held regardless of the weather and is not limited to the membership. Comfortable walking shoes and jackets, if needed, are advised. The tour will last from one and one--half to two hours. "Come see how nature prepares the prairie for winter, and more importantly, for its spring renewal," invites a spokesperson for the committee. Ruth E. Sanke Ruth E. Sanke of McHenry died Sunday, Sept. 23, 1984, in Northern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry. She was 71 years old, born in Chicago Sept. 20,1913, the daughter of Gustav and Ingrid (Oberg) Anderson. Mrs. Sanke lived in the McHenry area about 25 years, having come from Chicago. She was the founder and former owner of the McHenry County Letter Service, McHenry. On March 11,1934, in Chicago, she married Harold S. Sanke, who survives. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Peter M. Justen & Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Roger H. Olson of Nativity Lutheran Church, Wonder Lake, of-y ficiating, Burial will be in Ridgewood Cemetery, Des Plaines, 111. First Ave., McHenry, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 1984, in Nor thern Illinois Medical Center, McHenry. He was born Nov. 24, 1905 in McHenry, to Paul E. and Mary Margaret (Walmsley) Rieger. A resident of Cary, 111. most of his life, Mr. ( Rieger resided in McHenry the past 10 years. He was a police officer for the city of Cary 11 years; a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, McHenry; member and officer of McHenry Sportsmen's Club; and member of the Woodstock Sportsmen's Club. Surviving are his wife Irene (Walsh) Adams Rieger, whom he married July 28, 1974 in McHenry; two daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Josephine) Miller of Janesville, Wis. and Mrs. Colin (Marie) Slater of Cary; two step-daughters, Ms. Joan Adams of Meadow Vista, Calif, and Mrs. Howard (Joyce) James of Elgin, HI.; eight grandchildren; three step- grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lillian. Visitation was held after 3 p.m. Tuesday, with a Rosary recited at 3:30 and 8 Christian Wake service in the evening. A Mass of Resurrection will be conducted by Father Edmund ' Petit at 11 a.m. Wednesday, in St. Patrick's church. Interment will be in St. John's Cemetery, Fox River Grove, 111. Vomastek of Buf falo Grove, HI., formerly of McHenry, died Sunday, Sept. 23, 1984, in Highland Park Hospital, Highland Park, 111. He was 59, born in Escanaba, Mich. Dec. 11,1924, the son of Charles and Delia (Whitburn) Vomastek. Mr. Vomastek lived in McHenry until two years ago. when he moved to Buffalo Grove. He was a comptroller for Francis Cadillac Sales, Mt. Prospect, 111.; and a member of Knights of Columbus Council, Wichita Falls, Tex. • Surviving are his wife Mary Lou (Muir); 11 children, Robert D.
