KEI*TEMHEIt 2H, ISM Sunday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m., the McHenry County Historical Museum in Union will present a program on the 'Lincoln Family Furniture'. Presenting the program for the society will be David Warren of Crystal Lake who is a nationally known 'do-it-yourself writer who, over the years, has specialized in the reproduction of furniture designed and-or owned by Thomas Lincoln and the Abe Lincoln Family. Warren as a freelance writer has had his furniture designs featured in such magazines as 'Popular Mechanics', 'Mechanix Illustrated', 'Workbench', Popular Science', and 'Country Living'. Interestingly enough, the program this Sunday corresponds with Abraham Lincoln's 175th birthday thin year. The slide and talk presen tation will emphasize Lincoln's early years helping his father, Thomas, do cabinetmaking work in the frontier cabins with 19th century woodworking tools. It will also cover furniture styles Two taken to NIMC after two-car accident Plaindealer News Service Two people were injured in a two-car collision that occurred Sept. 22 in the 4600 block of Elm Street in McHenry. Roseann M. Jokich, 2604 Benjamin, Wonder Lake, and a passenger in the second vehicle, Melinda S. Sornson, 207 N. Green St., McHenry, were taken to Northern Illinois Medical Center (NIMC) for examination and treatment of injuries. The police report indicated that a car driven by Daina Sornson, 207 N. Green St., pulled out of a private parking lot into the path of the Jokich vehicle, which was westbound on Elm Street. Sornson was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way. A three-car collision in the 1200 block of Green Street Sept. 22 resulted in injuries to Lenice Wagner, 418 Mineral Springs, McHenry. She was taken to NIMC by the McHenry Fire Department. \The Wagner vehicle was struck in the rear by a car operated by Daniel Jack Koivisto, 3108 Bull Valley Road, McHenry. Koivisto told police he took his eyes off the road to look at a pedestrian who was walking around a stopped vehicle. The Wagner vehicle was then pushed into a car driven by Susan A. To lend an atmosphere of authenticity to the afternoon presentation, Abe Lincoln look- a-like J. Glenn Schnizlein and his wife Lois as Mary Todd Lincoln from Naperville will mingle and talk with museum visitors. While at the museum, visitors Leaf, Glenview, 111. Koivisto was ticketed following the accident. Charles E. Bergdahl, 3710 Millstream, McHenry, was transported to the hospital after he reportedly blacked out behind the wheel of his car; which crashed into a utility pole. The accident occurred at the near the intersection of Borden and Elm Streets on Sept. 21. Constance L. Orban, 1135 Pebble Beach, Twin Lakes, Wis., was cited for failure to yield the right-of-way following a two-vehicle collision in the 3800 block of Elm Street on Sept. 21. The driver of the other vehicle, Robert S. Stallard, 626 Valley Hill, Woodstock, was taken to NIMC for examination and treatment of injuries. Orban said another driver waved her out of a private parking lot and she did not see the Stallard vehicle in the inside lane of eastbound Elm Street. Mark Alan Carter, 7510 Hiawatha, Wonder Lake, escaped injury when the car he was driving slid off Draper Road at intersection with Chickaloon. Carter told police he was attempting to make a quick turn when the accident oc curred. , ' He was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an ac cident. 4503, that interested persons may call for a statewide leaf color report and an indication of the anticipated forest fire danger rating for the upcoming weekend.
