The event, scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 29 at Turn- berry Country Club in Crystal Lake, will feature gourmet refreshments and a night of dancing. The evening will be highlighted with music by the Keystone Orchestra, a fur fashion show, and the giveaway of a mink jacket and matching hat. Proceeds from the event will benefit the scholarship fund of the Auxiliary. Last year more than $3,000 was awarded to students enrolled in nursing education. 'It's a worthwile cause, and a night you won't forget', promised co-chairpersons Mrs. Donald Udstuen of Crystal Lake and Mrs. Timothy Althoff of McHenry. Cultural arts group slates general membership meeting The Chain O' Lakes Cultural Arts Association has changed the date originally set for its annual general membership meeting to 7:30 p.m. on Wed­ nesday, Oct. 3. The meeting will be held in the lower level of the Fox Lake Village Hall, 301 S. Route 59, Fox Lake. Jan Waldeck, president of the association, said the general membership meetings, which are open to the public, will be held annually to generate input from the community and to stimulate interest in ail types of fine art. The association has held some successful events in the recent past, including the Chain O' Lakes Orchestra's third annual spring concert at Grant High School last June and the 'Musical Tribute to the Mineola Hotel,' held to celebrate the structure's 100th anniversary on July 4. The association also par­ ticipated in the McHenry Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Trade Fair in late March. Although other, similar types of activities are planned, the a s s o c i a t i o n w e l c o m e s suggestions from everyone in the Chain of Lakes community. Trails to close at state park Beginning Oct. 1, the Leatherleaf Bog and Lake Defiance Trail Loops at Moraine Hills State Park in McHenry County will be closed for biking. Heavy equipment will be in operation and those walking the trails should use caution. Hopefully construction will be completed by Dec. 1.
