By Bark AaseH What's more rare than having tickets to the Chicago Cubs playoff games or the World Series? Finding someone who won such tickets through the ticket lottery system. For Pat and Broc Olson of McHenry, a pair of those coveted World Series passes became theirs early last week when a postcard bearing Pat's name was pulled from the over two million cards sent in to the Cubs' ticket offices. . "I was really surprised when they called on Sunday to tell Pat die had won the chance to buy the tickets," Broc Olson said. "I had sent a postcard in on Thursday, but it never made it to the ticket office. In fact, it came back to us on Saturday." • FIREWOOD Collection of firewood in Illinois'four state forests will be permitted from 8:90 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday each week until Jan. 31, except during the firearm deer bunting season, according to the Illinois Department of Con servation. The state forests are: Trail of Tears, Hidden Springs, Big River and Sand Ridge. SO HOW DID PAT OLSON'S name get selected? It turns out that Pat's mom had sent a postcard in with Pat's name on it prior to Thursday, and that's the one that got pulled," Broc explained. "I had never won anything before," said an excited Pat. "Even though we still had to pay the $63 for the two tickets, it was still like winning something." While the Olsons have not yet done anything with their tickets, Which would allow them to see the fourth game of the World Series - if the Cubs are involved -- to be held Oct. 13, they have had some very tempting offers. '"IT IS HARD TRYING TO decide what to do with the tickets," Pat said. "They are possibly sold to a 'die-hard Cub fan," but we are still holding on to the tickets. It gets hard to decide when they are going for a lot of money." The Olsons have had two of fers for the tickets and both have reached three digits. Pat Olson said her brother told her of an article he read, saying the treasured tickets were being scalped for as much as $1,500 to $3,000 per ticket. "It's amazing how fast the price goes up on such tickets," Pat said. She admitted that while her husband had been following the team pretty closely throughout the season, the Cubs' victory Monday night, when they clinched the National' League East, was special. "Their win seemed much more closer to home knowing that we had tickets for post season action," she said. "Broc and I were both very excited." But with the tickets still in hand, the Olsons may have the chance to witness and be a part of Cubs' history, should the team indeed advance to the World Series, and possibly sweep the American League represen tative. And if the Olsons decide to sell the tickets? Then there's a chance for someone else to get in on the action in this most memorable of Cubs seasons.
