The cast for one performance will be Joan Durland, Marion Freund, Marie Jackson, Agnes Miller, Alida Page, Dolores Mur­ phy, Catherine Schwerman, Grace Thompson, James Althoff, George Goranson, Alvin Schaefer and Richard Marsh. The second cast includes Ann Bolger, Louann Howarka, Katfifyn Nye, Nancy Rudin, Phyllis Smith, Joann Strever, Rosalie Williams, Paul Bonslett, Joan Weber, John Fleming, Fred Svaboda and Roger Wilbrandt. A tuberculin test will be offered on Oct. 17 at the local high school to all high school seniors and freshmen as well as faculty and school personnel who wish it. Local doctors will administer the tests and read them 48 hours later. Tuberculin testing of high school students is part of the c^se finding program of the McHenry County Tuberculosis Association and is financed by sale 6f Christmas Seals. TWENTY FIVE YEARS AGO ^Taken from the files of Oct. 8, 1959) This is Fire Prevention Week, a time set aside to pay tribute to the men who provide the fine protec­ tion afforded the local community and also a week set aside to eliminate any fire hazards that may exist in residences or places of business. During the past year in the McHenry Township Fire Protection District, there were 26 house fires, eight furnace and stove fires, 13 car or truck fires, 51 grass fires, six false alarms and eight miscellaneous (investiga­ tion). A total of $248.47 was collected in the Volunteers of America tag day Saturday, according to Mrs. Roy Homo. Glenn Olsen, credited with $34.77 in tags sold, received first prize for the day, and runners-up were Dale Marzano and Elyse Garland. The drive is aimed at raising funds to aid destitute mothers and children in the care of the group in this state. Tom Russell was elected presi­ dent of the McHenry Choral Club at the Monday evening meeting of the group. LeRoy Hiller was nam­ ed vice-president and Dorothy H o l l a n d e r , s e c r e t a r y . TEN YEARS AGO (Taken from the files of Oct. 11, 1974) Suggested condemnation pro­ ceedings against Lakeland Park Water Company, a heated state­ ment by Alderman LaVerne Hromec and final purchase of city pqrk property, highlighted Mon­ day night's City Council meeting. A new bridge across the Fox River came another step nearer to reality Tuesday. The McHenry County board adopted a resolution appropriating the sum of $400,000 as its Share for construction. The entire project is estimated to cost $800,000. The new bridge will con­ nect Pearl Street in the city with Lincoln Road, which is in the township. About $5,500 in stolen goods was r e c o v e r e d a n d n u m e r o u s burglaries and thefts were cleared up when three juveniles and another youth were apprehended last weekend by the McHenry Police Department. Building plans for the Northern Illinois Medical Center, to be con­ structed on Route 31 and Bull Valley Road, were submitted by McHenry Hospital -president, LeRoy E. Olsen, to Illinois public health authorities in Springfield, Sept. 30. Sec. of State Jim Edgar, in cooperation with the Senior Citizens Club Inc. of McHenry, will sponsor a "Rules of the Road" course consisting of three ses­ sions, Oct. 18, 25 and Nov. 1. The classes are free. The first session will begin at /9:30 a.m. for vision testing, and class work from 10 a.m. to noon. The second and third sessions will be from 10 a.m. to noon. f li/ v ; The classes will be held at the McHenry City Hall council room. One need not belong to the McHenry Senior Citizens Club to take the course. This will be the last class this year.
