Nargelenas, announc­ ed the latest figures which in­ dicate that during the month of September, 1984 142 persons died from injuries sustained from traf­ fic accidents on Illinois streets and highways. State Police, District 2, which covers Lake, McHenry, DeKalb, Kane ahd puPage Counties,' reported 164 persons have been killed in these counties since Jan. 1. One hundred fourty six persons were also killed during the same period in 1983 in these counties. Police seek clues to pair of automobile burglaries T" A breakdown of the counties for statistics in September, 1984 shows Lake County, three fatalities; McHenry County had seven fatalities; DuPage County had seven fatalities; Kane County had two fatalities and DeKalb County, two fatalities. As a comparison for September of 1983, Lake County had seven fatalities; McHenry County had no fatalities; DuPage County had 10 fatalities; Kane County had four fatalities; and DeKalb Coun­ ty had two fatalities. This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information on two burglaries to automobiles that oc­ curred in the Bright Oaks Subdivi­ sion in Cary. 459-4800 The first break-in occurred on Sept. 2 in the 100 block of Forest Avenue. Taken in that burglary were four hub caps, a green cooler, a pair of winter boots and a spare tire. The second break-in oc­ curred Sept. 21 in the 100 block of Bright Oaks Circle. The thieves took a 23-channel C.B. radio, a s t e r e o e q u a l i z e r , a n d t w o speakers. Area man killed in accident Daniel Schrobe, 24, of Woodstock, was killed in a three- vehicle accident Sunday mor­ ning on U.S. 14 in Crystal Lake. Wayne E. Adkins, 20, of Hampshire was pronounced dead at the scene of an early Saturday pedestrian-car ac­ cident on Coral Road, west of Dunham Road near Marengo, according to the McHenry County Sheriff's Department. McHenry County sheriff's police investigated the 5 a.m. accident near Marengo after receiving reports of a man lying in the roadway on Coral Road. This week is set aside for handieapvawareness Police said investigation revealed that Adkins, a pedestrian, was struck by an eastbound vehicle driven by Gary D. Roush, 19, of Union. Investigation into the accident is continuing by sheriff's police, and the county coroner's office. Henry Ketchum, 53, of Woodstock, was seriously in­ jured after the car occupied by him and Schrobe was struck by a vehicle that had been pushed into their traffic lane by a third vehicle, Crystal Lake police said. Helping the disabled eliminate these barriers is a goal of all citizens and, to illustrate the point, Mayor Joseph St&nek has joined with the Easter Seal Socie­ ty for McHenry County in declar­ ing Oct. 14-20 "National Handicap Awareness Week" in a City of McHenry. Stanek signed a proclamation Oct. 4 stressing the inherent right of all citizens of McHenry, regardless of their physical disabilities, to have equal op­ portunity to participate as fully as possible in the mainstream of community life. It also called upon all citizens to "join in breaking the barriers which confront our disabled neighbors so that they may par­ ticipate with dignity in all aspects of the life of our city."
