The womens club donated money towards the purchase of trees and the in­ stallation of a picnic table at the park, located in the Fox Ridge-Winding Creek neighborhood. According to Peter Merkel, director of parks and recreation, the development is now com­ plete and the site includes two swing sets, four spring animals, a geodesic climber and a multi­ ple deck climbing and slide unit. Health professionals invited to seminar on MS "The Dynanrics of Providing Care When You Cannot Cure," a seminar (or health professionals, will be presented by the Chicago- Northern Illinois Chapter, Na-' tional Multiple Sclerosis Society, and Hinsdale.Hospital from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8 at the hospital. Focusing specifically on multi­ ple sclerosis, a disease of the cen­ tral nervous system for which is no known cause or cure, the presenters will emphasize psychological, social and emo­ tional aspects of the disease as they relate to the patients and their families. Dr. Floyd A. Davis, professor of neurology and director of the MS Center at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center, will discuss "Medical Aspects of Multiple Sclerosis and Current R e s e a r c h . " T h e R o l e o f Rehabilitation with Multiple Sclerosis' will be the subject discussed by Dr. Steven Scheer, m e d i c a l d i r e c t o r , S c h w a b Rehabilitation Center. C o n c u r r e n t a f t e r n o o n workshops will include presenta­ tions by: Bonnie Zeckmeister, Schwab speech pathologist, on "Communication and Feeding Concerns of People with Multiple Sclerosis"; Barry Rath, PHD., Schwab director of psychology, "Neuropsychological Deficits in Multiple Sclerosis Persons"; Mary Susan Pope, RN, director of professional services, In-Home Health Care of Suburban Chicago, West, "Preparation of Client for Post-Hospital Care"; and a panel MR. II atBa.m. He will lead a discussion of the Lawyers Assistance Program (L.A.P.), an early intervention program in which lawyers come to the aid of those in their group who have drug or alcohol pro­ blems. Gladstone serves as an ac­ tive consultant to both L.A.P. and its counterpart, the Impaired Physicians Committee. Gladstone is director of the Chemical Dependency Program at Martha Washington Hospital Treatment Center in Chicago, and an assistant professor of psychiatry at Northwestern University Medical School. The City of McHenry honored Dr. Gladstone this year by in­ viting him to serve as the Grand Marshall of the 1984 Fiesta Days Parade. on "Assessment of MS person and Family Needs by Health Profes­ sionals with Ms." Dr. Robert E. Eilers, medical director of ^Rehabilitation Ser­ vices at Hinsdale Hospital, will make introductory remarks at the workshop which is designed for physicians, nurses, social workers, .chaplains, therapists, students, and volunteers who pro­ vide care to MS persons and their families.
