Renew driver's license early BY SEC. OF STATE JIM EDGAR If your drivers license expires during the winter months, you may renew it now and avoid the ice and snow later. All drivers receive their renewel notices approximately 30 days before the license ex pires, and a policy in the Driver Services Department allows motorists to renew their licenses up to one year before the ex piration date. Safety hints: This early renewal policy gives every Illinois driver the opportunity to renew his or her license unaer ideal weather and road conditions. The policy also makes renewal convenient for Illinoisans who drive south for the winter or who plan to be out of town when their licenses expire. r. Although written and-or road tests may not be required for renewal, you still must drive to a facility for a vision test and to have a photo taken. T# If you plan to renew your drivers license at a COOK County drivers license facility, you might consider doing so on a Tuesday or Thursday; If you Ian to renew your drivers icense at a facility outside of Cook County, you might con sider doing so on a Wednesday, Thursday, or Friday. Renewing on the suggested days will help you avoid the busiest times. ATTENTION ALL KIDS!
