DH KMBKK 5.19B4 Support group helps people 'Recover' from nervous (ears McHenry County residents who suffer from nervous symptoms or fears are being helped In this area through a self-help group called Recovery, Inc.!. The .non-profit, r non sectarian organization is part of a world wide group which offers a system of training for controlling temperamental behavior and at titude. The local group meets from 8 to 10 p.m. Tuesdays at the Counsel ing and Rehabilitation Center, 503 Blakely St., Woodstock (direetlv behind Woodstock Memorial Hospital). Members of Recovery have had the diagnosis that their various symptoms are nervous rather than physical in origin. It is not necessary to have been hospitaliz ed, or even under a doctor s care, to lake part in the Recovery meetings. Symptoms which members may suffer include: palpitations, diz ziness, tremors, depression, chest pressure and the fear of heart disease; panicky feelings, difficul ty in making decisions; extreme self-consciousness or strong feel ings of inadequacy; lack of ap petite and feeling of unreality. Some members have fears or phobias, such as the fear of being alone, of journeys, of crowds, etc. Some members even suffer from obsessions, compulsions and fear-, ful bizarre thoughts. Recovery does not offer any diagnosis, treatment, advice or counselling, and will not take the place of a physician's care. The members help one another through their examples of how they have faced and handled the frustrations and irritations of everyday life. Group leaders are trained in the Recovery method and volunteer their time at the meetings. There is no charge to attend the meetings, (although a free-will of fering is collected), and all meetings are open to the public, persons 18 years of age or older. There are Lippizaners, Cloverleafs hold achievement night On Nov. 18, the Lincoln Cloverleafs 4-H Club held its achievement night at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. The members shared a potluck dinner and awards were handed out by Mary Widoff, County Kxlonsion Advisor. Mrs. Freels, club leader, in troduced Irv Staveteig, who founded the club 15 years ago Grace Vyduna was also recogniz ed for her years as a leader of the club. The Cloverleafs held a short meeting and voted to help a needy family for Christmas. Members also made a motion to raise their dues. Several club memhers were honored at the County Achieve ment Banquet on Nov. 16at Rich mond:1 The Cloverleafs will help at the McHenry City Park for the San ta's Parade on Dec. 8 and for Toys for Tots on Dec. 15.
