"Shae" Johnson (Stahlman), recently from Rock Falls, 111., and formerly of McHenry, has been appointed to the faculty of Southwest Missouri State University, sixth grades students, super­ vising college practicum students and teaching student teachers. She earned a bachelor of science degree in special education and elementary education from Illinois State University, Normal, and a master's degree in education from Northern Illinois University, DeKalb. For the past six years, Johnson has taught at Mont­ morency School in Rock Falls, where she taught three years of first grade and three years of remedial reading. Prior to that, die taught a year of special education at Sterling High School and two years of special education at McLean High School. Springfield. Her teaching assignment is to • be sixth-grade supervising teacher in the Greenwood laboratory school, located on campus. She will be teaching CHERYL JOHNSON Area schools join MS fight Three McHenry area schools are participating in the MS Word Encounters program sponsored by the Multiple Sclerosis Society. McHenry East and West Campuses and the Johnsburg Junior High School have entered the competition for the benefit of MS research. Initial written spelling tests in each of the 52 participating schools and 37 junior highs . .. V. I determine which students will qualify for the oral spell-off. Funds are earned for MS through sponsors who pledge a sum for each word spelled correctly. Final competition for the junior high students will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, in Sand­ burg Middle School, Elmhurst. Members of the band are music students concentrating their studies in the area of wind instruments and the group travels extensively. The symphonic band was at the high school as an enrichment assembly for the students. Some of the selections played included John Phillip Sousa's "American March." selections ' from "Camelot" and others.
