DECEMBER 7. t Local residents elected to veteran's commission "I The home of Ben Franklin is the setting for the 1984 McHenry West Campus Madrigal dinners. The spirit of 1776 prevails the setting with such guests as Francis Hopkinson, Patrick Henry, Henry Lee, Thomas Paine and Thomas Jefferson. General George Washington himself will be at the Christmas celebration. The West Campus Madrigal singers have been working all semester on such music as "Wassail Song'*, "Boar's Head Carol", and many other old English carols totaling 23 selections to be presented at the festive dinner. Singing servants will also be featured. The dinner is open to the public, but by reservation only. The dates are: Saturday, Dec. 8 at 6:30 p.m., and Sunday Dec. 9^ at 1:30 p.m. at the West Campus cafeteria. The number to call for reservations is 385-7077 during business hours. The dinner will include roast beef; Yorkshire pudding, and cherries jubilee. John Leighty is the director of the traditional occasion. A brass quarter, and a recorder consort will be present to enhance the dinner. Delegates attending the November meeting of the McHenry County Veterans Assistance Commission held at the Crystal Lake American Legion elected permanent officers for the ensuing year. » They are: Chairman Dwayne Raney of Woodstock; Senior Vice Chairman Rye Simpson of Wonder Lake; Junior Vice Chairman Richard Meyers of Crystal Lake; Treasurer Frank Ficek of McHenry; Judge Advocate Gord on Gabel of Fox River Grove; and Sergeant at Arms James Chesler of Wonder Lake. Chairman Raney has appointed Louis J. E. Czarny of Woodstock as the commission's secretary, and Father Thomas W. Neville of Richmond as chaplain. The posi tion of parliamentarian will be fill ed and announced in the near future. Raney also will announce his ap pointments to a committee to draft up a set of by-laws and con stitution for the McHenry County organization which has tem porarily adopted Kane County's as a guide to operate by and under.
