The tree is up in the library, awaiting more decorations to be donated by residents. Louise Hipwell, former president of the board of trustees, spent time erecting the tree and decorating ft with ornaments from last year. Youngsters will be adding to the tree's attractiveness with their creations. An ornament making time, with Lorry Deeke supplying the materials and know-how, wul be held at the library Monday, Dec. 17, at 4 p.m. All grade school children are invited to join in the fun. DONATIONS ACCEPTED Residents wishing to share their Christmas with others less fortunate are asked to > bring their gifts of food, staples or money to the Lakemoor Village Hall any time the offices are open. The items will be turned over to FISH, the McHenry organization that assists people in short term need. Anyone knowing of families who are undergoing a difficult time may give this information to the village clerk, Alice Owen. The Lakemoor Junior Chamber of Commerce is selling Christmas trees this yearttft the Lakemoor Municipal Building parking lot. Need a tree? Buy it there and help this group with their public service project. PETITIONS AVAILABLE The Village of Lakemoor is in a period of transition which will be determined at the April election. A new president will be voted in, as will the village clerk and three trustees, all for four- year terms. Petitions which must be signed by registered voters in Lakemoor, are available for anyone willing to devote time and energy to assist in leadership that will provide for the needs of residents of Lakemoor. Pat Morrison, current president pro-tern, has taken a petition for the presidency. Janice Martin has started her campaign for trustee. Hon Robinette is interested and will make his bid for a position. Lakemoor's governing body needs interested, knowledgeable nle who want the best for r community. Are you willing to participate? FLORIDA HONEYMOON Sundae Morrison, youngest daughter of Norman and Pat Morrison, became the wife of Jim Wilson Oct. 20, with the ceremony held at Zion Lutheran Church on "Sweetest Day." A reception was held at the VFW for 250 guests. The new Mr. and Mrs. Wilson left for a two-week honeymoon in Florida after the reception. They thoroughly enjoyed one of their wedding presents, a stay at Epcot Center, given by Sundae's brother. Visited were Jim's brother John, who attends the Naval Academy in Melbourne, Fla., and Jim's aunt and uncle who live in Melbourne. Enjoyed were Busch Gardens, Sea World and Key West. CELEBRATION A belated Thanksgiving dinner was held at the Leonard Ackerman home Sunday, Nov. 2S, with Phyllis' parents Clayton and Virginia Bruce, brother Wesley Bruce and five of their six children. The whole gang was there to celebrate Thanksgiving and Phyllis' ??? birthday wnch fell on that date. Luke was the missing link to the AckSrman circle, but he called from Mesa, Ariz, to wish his mom a happy birthday. He came home Friday, Nov. 30, to recuperate, and is doing fine. There was a surprise birthday party Saturday, Dec. 1, for Virginia Bruce's cousin, Ger­ trude Wilkerson, in Woodstock, that Clayton and Virginia at­ tended. Gertrude was 70 years old. Bob and Sue Low of McHenry and Walt and Alice Mae Wilcox of Woodstock spent Sunday with Walt and Doris Low. Many people are grateful to the ladies of the Ringwood church who have so diligently donated of their time and ser­ vices this past week, delivering 'Meals on Wheels' to the shut- ins. SANTA'S SECRET SHOP Santa's Secret Shop will give children the learning op­ portunity to purchase gifts for their family. It will be held Dec. 12,13 and 14 at Bush, Middle and Junior High schools. Details and lists were to be sent home with the children early in December. METHODIST WOMEN The Christmas potluck dinner for the United Methodist Women of the Ringwood Church will meet at the home of Shirley Cristy Thursday, Dec. 13, for a taste of all those delicious, special Christmas dishes. We will meet at 12 o'clock instead of the usual 12:30. There will be a program after we eat, given by Ariine Pear­ son; a book review of "The Donkey's Gift" by Thomas Coffee. Happiness is wished for the Wilsons, now at home in Lakemoor. COMMUNITY CONCERNS Diane Ford's father has been hospitalized in Lutheran General Hospital with pneumonia. Mike Kmetz, in a tussle with a rug, ended up with a cast on his left wrist Dec. 3, with a possible fracture of same. President Dick Hyatt of Lakemoor will be able to resume his job in January, but not his work as village president. The lost dog belonging to the Jay family in Parkside returned home after five days of wan­ dering, full of burrs and with very hurting paws. Where Brownie was, no one knows. Sometimes our pets could really tell us fantastic tales if we could only understand their language. HAPPY DAYS Edna Garbacz of Lakmoor, will be receiving wishes for a happy birthday Dec. 8. Michael Kunz will be 12 years old the same day. Michael's sister Heide brought home an Indian head silhouette adorned with 90 paper feathers, representing the 90 books she read in recognition of Book Week, in her second- grade class. A truly happy birthday is wished for Bob Donovan of Lakemoor, who will reach the satisfying age of 75 years Dec. 9. Bob and Chris have lived in Lakemoor many years, wat­ ching the progress made in their village. The highlight of his birthday will be a dinner out with his son and family. Cindy Gaines of Parkside celebrates her birth Dec. 9, also. Melissa Pahlke of Lakemoor will be five years old Dec. 10, the same day John Kmetz starts his 15th year. Dec. 11 is Danny Douglass' 11th birthday, and also the birth date celebrated by Jimmy Johnson, Jr. Joanna Ruth Mentzer will have a birthday recognition at her home in Lilymoor Dec. 12, as will Christine Watkins of Hidden Valley Acres.
