Service News -1 CHUCK WILDE Chuck Wilde III, son of' Gustave and Terri Wilde of McHenry, enlisted in the U.S. Air Force's Delayed Enlistment Program recently. Upon suc­ cessfully completeing the Air Force's six weeks basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, Tex., he will receive training in the Mechanical Aptitude Field. He is a 1960 graduate of Marion-Central High School. JEFFREY JUSTEN Jeffrey J. Justen, son of John J. and Beverly D. Justen of McHenry, has been promoted in the U.S. Air Force to the rank of senior airman. * Justen is a aircraft maintenance crew chief at Keesler Air Force Base , Miss., with the 3380th Organizational Maintenance Squadron. v ' , DENNIS LEIGH Airman Dennis R. Leigh, son of Sharon Leigh of Wonder Lake, and Craig Leigh of McHenry, has graduated from the U.S. Air Force aircraft maintenance course at Sheppard Air Force Base, Texas. During the course, students were taught aircraft maintenance fundamentals to repair and service one- and two- engine jet aircraft. Main­ tenance management and documentation was also taught to assess aircraft readiness capability. GEARY CONE Airman Geary L. Cone, son of Peter and Annette Brom- melkamp of McHenry, has graduated from Air Force basic training at Lackland Air Force Base, Tex. During the six weeks of training the airman studied the Air Force . mission, oranization and customs and received special training in human relations. FRANK LINDER AIR FORCE Sgt. Frank M. Under, son of Manfred K. and Edith Linder of Wonder Lake, has arrived for duty at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan. Linder, a jet engine mechanic with the Pacific Logistics Support Center, was previously assigned at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M. THOMAS BARTHEL Army National Guard Pvt. Thomas J. Barthel, son of William T. and Shirley A. Barthel of McHenry, has completed one station unit training (OSUT) at the U.S. Army Infantry School, Fort Benning, Ga. OSUT is a 12-week period which combines basic combat training and advanced individual training. The training included weapons qualifications, squad tatics, patrolling, landmine warfare, field communicationsand combat operations. Completion of this course qualifies the soldier as a light-weapon in­ fantryman and as an indirect- fire crewman. Soldiers were taught to perform any of the duties in a rifle or mortar squad. ANTHONY CIURA Airman Anthony J. Ciufa, son of Lucinda M. Ciura of McHenry, has graduated from the U.S. Air Force airframe repair course at Chanute Air Force Base, 111. During the course, students were taught to work with different metals, plastics and fiberglass to repair and replace airframes of air­ craft and missiles. Ciura is scheduled to serve with the 67th Happy Birthday Sweet 16 Happy Birthday Marli Equipment Maintenance Squadron at Bergstrom Air Force Base, Tex. He is a 1984 graduate of Johnsburg High School. Receipts should be presented at the Chamber office 9 a m to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and a free copy of the game will be issued. . Receipts will be returned for post-holiday ex­ changes. The offer is sponsored by the Retail Council of the McHenry Area Chamber as a special thanks for shopping McHenry for the holidays. Free shuttle service is another program of the Retail Council in conduction with the RTA'a Dial- a-Ride department. For customer convenience in getting from one end of the "McHenry Mall" to the other and all points between, the shuttle is in service on Friday evenings from S p.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Christ­ mas. This is another incentive to shop McHenry, where pur­ chases underwrite community services. One percent of the sales tax is returned to the City of McHenry to support the police department, parks and recreation department, special services, and the city clerk's office. The Retail Council encourages residents to discover many stores they may not have known about before, and enjoy the convenience of the shopping locally.
