(Taken from the files of Dec. 1 3 , 1 9 3 4 ) The U.S. post office has established a Star mail route between Crystal Lake and Williams Bay with the mail being delivered by messenger. This was made necessary when the freight train, which has delivered the mail here in the early morning, was discon tinued. A messenger from Crystal Lake now delivers the mail here in the morning and picks up the last mail at night on his return trip to Crystal Lake. Mail from the local post of fices is now dispatched to Chicago at 2:50 p.m. and at 6 p.m. No mail leaves the city on the morning train. With the arrival of winter weather and snow, some of our residents are heeding the call of the simny southland to spend the winter in Florida. Mrs. Mary Carey and daughters, Evelyn and Florence, will spend the winter at Miami. This is the first time the annual environmental . award has gone to a city rather than an individual. Mayor Joseph Stanek accepted the award plaque on behalf of the city. Former Mayor Donald Doherty; Fred Meyer, superintendent of public works; City Clerk Earl R. Walsh and other officials received in dividual certificates in recognition of the honor. The city received the honor, among other reasons, for construction of its award winning sewage treatment plant which will significantly decrease the pollution of the Fox River. Roland A. The inability to make free throws in the closing minutes cost the Warriors a win at Zion Friday night. They lost 63-62. But they shook off their disappointment and outhustled the Grant Bulldogs in their home opener 69-54 the next night. ^cServu:ENAL DIRECTORY JACK WALSH. AGENT EARL R. WALSH.
