SECTION 2 - PACE Schools i A saintly visit. SI. Nicholas (above) paid a surprise visit to studeats at St. John's School last Thursday morning. He came bearing gifts and treats for the Plaindealer Herald photo by Anthony Oliver young students. In the tradition of giving, as St Nicholas did, the children were asked to give of themselves to another. Marian holds yule concert The annual band and choral Christmas concert at Marian Central Catholic High School is scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 13, 1964 at 7:30 p.m. The chorus plans a traditional holiday "fare" of "The Twelve Days After Christmas," "0 Holy Night" and "A Christmas Medley." The band will entertain the audience with "Rhythm of the Winds" and "Carols of Christmas." Students to hear speaker about drugs Dave Storv. an internationally known speaker on drugs, will be speaking to McHenry High School students on Thursday and Friday of this week. Story, a former motorcycle gang member with a long criminal record, speaks regarding experiences with drugs and violence that he has seen. He will be speaking at McHenry West Campus on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 9:35 a.m. and at East Campus on Friday, Dec. 14, at 1:40 p.m. The Jazz Band will also be on hand with their rendition of "Ballad for a Blue Bird." Tickets may be purchased at the door. Prices are $2 for adults and $1 for students and senior citizens. All are invited to share refreshments and discussion following the concert. Advanced course in computers is offered at MCC An advanced level computer science course is available at McHenry County College through a cooperative program with Roosevelt University. . "Introduction to Data Base Design" will introduce the student to three models of data base design (relational, heirarchical, network), ad­ vantages and disadvantages of using data bases, and query languages. Classes start Jan. 19 and are scheduled for 9:30 a.m. to noon. The course will allow students to earn senior college credits at MCC which can be applied toward a bachelor degree in computer science or toward a Roosevelt's accelerated bachelor of general studies through the university's lege of continuing education. MCC data processing courses are acceptable prerequisites for these courses and appropriate work experience may be sun- stituted with the consent of the instructor. Registration will be held at 9 a.m. Jan. 19 and interested students must complete ad­ mission procedures to Roosevelt University prior to registration.
