The choice for the month of December is Todd Freund. He received his gift for outstanding service at the altar and his willingness to always serve. The Knights of the Altar is a parish organization which offers the boys an opportunity for -spiritual growth, learning more about their faith, as well as entering into fellowship. A tour is being planned -and sponsored by the First Baptist Church of McHenry, and Pastor Tom Roberson will lead the group. The tour is planned for June S- 14, at a cost of $1509, which covers the round trip air fare, first class hotel accomodations, meals, deluxe motor coaches, guides, all fees and all tips. Religious buildings to be viewed The Norris Cultural Arts Center, 1040 Dunham Road, St. Charles, 111. has planned a tour of some of Chicago's religious buildings, Wednesday, Feb. 20, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Present plans call for visiting St. Patrick's, one of the few buildings to survive the Chicago fire;1 Second Presbyterian Church, home to many of Chicago's early millionaires, filled with magnificent stained glass windows; the Loop Synagogue, a house of worship right in the heart of the city; St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral, whose 13 domes symbolize Christ and his disciples; and Holy Angels Church, a flourishing black Catholic parish under the direction of Father George for black couples to adopt a black child. A motorcoach will leave the center promptly at 8:30 a.m., and the cost per person includes round trip fare, tour narration, all contributions and-or ad missions to the places visited. Lunch is included in a building which was originally a dancing academy where Chicago's Prairie Avenue elite were taught the waltz, polka, gallopade, and occasionally, an old-fashioned quadrille. Today, the space is large and friendly, featuring plain wooden tables, bent-wood chairs and a time-tested hearty cuisine of chicken or fish, potatoes and salad, unlimited beer and wine and lemon ice box pie. Slate assembly luncheon Feb. 1 The Annual Assembly Lun cheon for Church Women United, Lake , Region, will be held at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Crystal Lake, at noon Friday, Feb. 1. The luncheon will be provided by the ladies of various churhes throughout the area and the guest speaker will be Lucille Ashworth of Carbondale, HI. She will speak on the "Dwight Chapel Project," which Church Women United is supporting. There will also be an election of officers for 1985. Church Women United is a national ecumenical movement of Christian Women working together and witnessing their faith through worship, study, action and celebration. Invite singers to join group in rehearsal The New Oratorio Singers, acclaimed northwest suburban choristers, invite area singers to join them in rehearsal for their Spring concert. Rehearsals will begin Mon day, Jan. 21, at 7:30 p.m., at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, Dundee Avenue at Hillside in Barrington. Those interested are requested to arrive at 7 p.m. for registration. Selections for this per formance are Bruckner's "Mass No. 3 in F Minor" and Brahms' "Alto Rhapsody."
