For inf registrar at 455-: NIU junior travels to Egypt DEBORAH BARTKUS Deborah Bartkus, a junior at Northern Illinois University and a 1982 graduate of McHenry East Campus High School, has recently returned from an event-filled trip to Egypt. From Dec. 12 through Jan. 12, she and several other students from the university studied the lifestyle and government of the foreign country. The internship qualified her for three earned credit hours. The trip included a three-week tour of the Suez Canal, where the students studied the operation as a whole. In the final week, the students concentrated in an area related to their specific major. Bartkus, an Operations jjMiagei^n^iii^j^iD^the university's Business Systems and Analysis Department, studied the inventory control systefai set by Suez Canal authorities at Port Said. As a group, the American students introduced the concept of "quality circles," (encouraging worker participation in decision­ making processes). In their free time, the students met many government authorities of the area, including prime ministers and governors; and toured the pyramids as well.
