McHenry County sheriff's police reported one accident call before 8 a.m. Monday and only one between 8 and 11 a.m. A spokesman at Illinois State Police District 2 headquarters in Elgin said that accidents were few in the McHenry County area. McHenry County Highway Department crews were called out at 3 a.m. Monday, according to James Rakow, head of the highway department. He said 14 county plows worked on the 220 miles of county highways. The county crews were to be out for an undetermined period, depending on the blowing conditions, Rakow said. Although accidents were reportedly minor, the sheriff's department investigated several serious accidents during the weekend, including one which resulted in fatal injuries to a 46-year-old Rolling Hills man.
