The Illinois Department of Conservation's annual seedling sales program will end March 31, according to Allan S. Mickelson, chief of the Division of Forest Resources and Natural Heritage. The seedling trees and shrubs are used for con servation plantings throughout the state to provide wildlife habitat, control soil erosion, create windbreaks, and to grow forest products. "We begin accepting orders in the fall and the seedlings are shipped in the spring for plan ting at that time," said Mickelson. "We process about 4,000 orders and sell out of several species annually," Mickelson pointed out, "Lan downers who want to purchase trees need to get their orders in as soon as possible."
