Each year Marian Central students reach out to help their fellow students and students seeking entry to Marian as freshmen by selling chocolate candy to raise funds for financial assistance. "The proceeds from this year's chocolate drive will be placed in a special Financial Aid Fund", says Dr. Bob O'Mara, assistant principal, "to be drawn upon by students to reduce the cost of their tuition. Futhermore, it is our goal to provide the opportunity of a Catholic high school education for all interested students in the McHenry County area." The candy drive began March 1 and runs through March 18. The goal for the drive is $16,470. Prairie Grove School will host its annual smorgasbord, Sun day, March 10, from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tliis year's theme is "A picnic in the country." The school's jazz band will provide entertainment and balloons will be on sale for children. Tickets are $4.25 (adults), $3.25 (seniors), and $2.25 (children age 6-12. Children under six can get in for free. There is a 75 cent charge for tickets purchased at the door and all proceeds go to the school.
