Page 7 - PLAINDEALER-HERALD, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 6,1985 Crime Of the Week Concert to benefit Koleno kids Dancers asked This week Crime Stoppers is seeking information on an ar med robbery that occured in the 1000 block of Jasper Drive in Pistakee Highlands. 459-4800 On Wednesday evening, Feb. 20, two men showed up at the victim's, presumably to see some items that the victim had advertised for sale in the newspaper. After gaining entry, they struck the victim on the head and forced him to lie on the floor. They then ransacked the livingroom and bedroom, tore the telephone off the wall, and stole three guns. Taken were two revolvers and a double barrel shotgun. The offenders then left the house. They were described as white men in their 30's. Although they arrived by car, no description is available at this time: Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards of up to $1,000 for in formation leading to the arrest and filing. of charges against offenders. If you have any in formation on this armed rob bery, or information on any other crimes, call Crime Stoppers at (815) 459-4800. All callers remain anonymous-one never needs to give a name. Crime Stoppers, which is sponsored by the McHenry Area Chamber of Commerce, assigns secret numbers to anonymous callers who provide in formation. Callers are in structed to call back at regular intervals to find out if any suspect have been arrested as a result of confidential in formation given. If there are arrests, the Crime Stoppers board of directors then meets to determine an ap propriate reward. A second meeting is arranged to make the cash reward payments. Anonymous callers to Crime Stoppers do not have to appear in court. "To The Quads With Love" is the title of a benefit concert being planned for the Koleno quadruplets. The concert, to be held March 10 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Thomas Church in Crystal Lake, will feature Brian Juahiainen, renowned area baritone who now resides in New York. A member of the American Opera Center at the Juilliard School, Jauhiainen is a frequent performer of oratorio, operetta and art songs as well as opera roles in both classical and contemporary productions* The March 10 concert will include familiar operatic arias, selected art songs, religious classics, Negro spirituals and contemporary show tunes. Healthy -and thriving, Jackie, Joshua, Holly and Robert are now at . home with parents Dan and Laura Koleno in McHenry. "But the medical bills are staggering and continuing ef forts are underway to help defray the costs to the young couple," continues Kosky. "We're grateful for the response that has raised almost $10,000, but with bills of over $80,000 there is a long way to go. MCC tuition hike possible Plain dealer Herald Newi Service Bartlett said the finance committee will be discussing the matter in further detail before the next board meeting. The McHenry County College Board of Trustees discussed the possibility of a college tuition increase for the 1985-86 school year at its meeting last week. "As administration, we're not excited about a tuition in crease," Trustee President Robert Bartlett said. Bartlett explained MCC is one of the only community colleges that has "held the line" in terms of tuition increases. The last tuition increase the college received was in 1983-84 when the student portion of revenue was 33 percent, he said. Bartlett said the college is "not going to play scare tac tics." If the college is unable to generate more revenue, the president said, the college's general position would be "stagnation, when we (the college) have the opportunity to move ahead." Trustee member Michael McNerney said an increase would have to be voted upon by trustees by the next meeting in March. The band has been together since the spring of 1984, holding their first concert on the beach front of Crystal Lake. They continued rehearsing through the year and gave a Christmas concert to roundout 1984. New players are always welcome with rehearsals every Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at North Junior High School in Crystal Lake. Further information regar ding the band or the concert may be obtained by contacting Jane Christensen at the Crystal Lake Park District, (815) 459- 0680.
