MARCH 20.1985 Crime of the Week Two accidents occur near same location Five people were injured in two accidents that occurred in about the same location at about This week, Crime Stoppers is seeking information concerning an armed robbery that occurred in McHenry on March 14 at 10:55 p.m. McHenry responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Clark Gas station located at 3811 W. Elm St., McHenry. 459-4800 The victim reported that a man, armed with what appeared to be a .22-caliber pistol, j demanded money from the cash register. After obtaining about $425, the robber fled on foot in a i southeasterly direction. Police suspect as many as two people were involved in the incident. The robber was described as a white male, about 6 feet tall, 160- 170 pounds, between 18- and 20- years-old, wearing an orange stocking cap with two eyeholes cut in a camoflage-type material over his face, tan plaid work shirt, blue jeans and brown work boots. Crime Stoppers pays cash rewards of up to $1,000 for in­ formation leading the arrest and filing of criminal charges against offenders. Crime Stoppers, which is )red by the McHenry Area iber of Commerce, assigns secret numbers to anonymous callers who provide in­ formation. Callers are in­ structed to call back at regular intervals to find out if any suspects have been arrested as a result of confidential in­ formation given. If there are arrests, the Crime Stoppers board of directors meets for determine an ap­ propriate reward. A secret meeting is arranged to make the cash reward payment. At 9:37 p.m., McHenry County Sheriffs Police and McHenry Township Fire Department responded to an accident in the 2900 block of Route 31, north of McHenry. A car driven by Kenneth E. Johnson, 2915 N. Richmond Road, McHenry, slowed to make a left turn into a private parking lot and was struck in the rear by pickup truck. Thedrii : driver of the truck, David W. Bialachowski, 2003 Sunset Ave., McHenry, told police he saw the Johnson vehicle slowed and looked to his speedometer. When he looked back, the car was just in front of him. He applied the brakes but collided with the car. Both drivers and a passenger in the truck, Marie W. Foley, 1709 Lakewood Drive, McHenry, were taken to Northern Illinois Medical Center (NIMC) by the fire department. Bialachowski was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. At 9:50 p.m., a two-car collision in the southbound lane occurred as traffic was slowed for the previous accident. Patricia A. Wroblewski, 3707 John St., McHenry, was stopped in traffic due to the accident when her car was struck in the rear. The driver of the other vehicle, John M. Lindstrand, 5402 Amby Lane, McHenry, said he saw a line of cars stopping ahead but did not see the Wroblewski vehicle until just before impact. The report noted that the windshiela of the Lindstrand auto was obscured by frost. Both drivers were taken to NIMC for examination and treatment. Lindstrand was ticketed for the violation. Three citations were issued following a three-car collision in the 5000 block of Bonner Drive, last Thursday morning. According to the police report, a car driven by Gina M. Barone, 5008 Dartmoor, McHenry, made a turn onto Bonner Drive and stopped for no apparent reason. A second vehicle also turned but was able to stop before a collision occurred. The second vehicle was driven by Michael Chatham, of McHenry. A third car struck the Chatham vehicle, which was pushed into the Barone auto. The driver of the third vehide was Tammie L. Miller, 4906 St. Joseph Court, Wonder Lake. Miller was ticketed for following too close. Barone was cited for obstructing traffic. A passenger in the Barone auto, William Kloepfer, 1708 Knoll, McHenry, was cited for giving false information.
