By Angela Burden PlaladMtor Herald Newt Service Zoning matters took up much of this week's meeting of the McHenry County Board, and members had a change of mind on two issues after learning how tabling would adversely affect the petitioners. After tabling the vote until next month on a petition for a conditional use for a private school, the board rescinded its action and voted to grant the request. Board members also changed their minds on delay of a petition seeking conditional use for property to be used as a commercial kennel for dogs and cats. The McHenry County Zoning Board of Appeals voted unanimously to rtecommend granting both petitions involving property in Dorr Township. The application from Jon L. and Penny Hildebrandt Cichucki and Crystal Lake Montessori School for conditional use of the estate-zoned Jane G. Starck property, consisting of 3.7 acres on Country Club Road, was tabled for one month at the request of District 3 board member Thore Emricson. He said District 3 board members wanted time to view the property before voting on the matter. However, after hearing that the delay would affect the plans of the applicants, the board had a change of heart and supported the petition, which proposes a private school for preschool and elementary children. The petitioners plan to erect a 10,000- square-foot building on the property and later expand it by another 7,000 square foot. The ZBA found there was a need for the proposed school's program "with its individual techniques of teaching" and voted to recommend granting the request with certain con ditions. The board declined to hear the petition of Mary and Jack Time machine. At the close of the meeting, however, the board learned that the application did reach the board office prior to the required deadline and decided to [earj5§n5 hear the matter. The petitioners propose to purchase the parcel in question and erect a structure to house dogs with individual dog runs. Cats would be housed in an existing building. They plan to operate a grooming and "pet motel" type of business and intend to live on the premises. Additional zoning matters included the reclassification of zoning from agriculture to estate district on a 2.13 aicre parcel with frontage on Newbold Road, Algonquin, and the reclassification from business to light industrial zoning for less than one acre of property on North Solon Road in Richmond Township, where an office building and storage area for , boats are proposed.
