About 35 people • were her companions on this bus tour, where sights of the states between here and Arizona and California were seen and en­ joyed. P l a c e s p a r t i c u l a r l y -remembered t>y Vola were •phoenix, Los Angeles, San Diego Harbor and,9of course, " Las Vegas. Vola was on her own at Las (Vegas, the slot machines kept her company. The two days and nights spent there made her trip, both financially and for the - excitement. She didn't even go j to the shows as her energy was spent in that pastime not allowed in Lakemoor. i The drive was a bit long, but i the people and places were ] great. Cuddly Adam, son of Mary and James, was welcomed by two sisters and two brothers-and adoring grandparents. Michelle Pahlke, also of Lakemoor, was born the same date. Monique Betancourt, in her senior year at East Campus and a well-known basketball player, will be honored on her birthday the last day of March. April 1, April Fool's Day, is also a birthday for Josh Taylor of Hidden Valley Acres, and George Alexander Wirfs, "Who will be five. Cherie Mumma will be wished birthday happiness April 2, as will Chuck Neeley on the 4th. DOG DAYS Spring brings out many , things, including unsupervised dogs. With females in heat, the dog traffic is increasing daily, making those owners who curtail their dogs very unhappy with those who .don't For the dogs' safety and health, and for residents' peace of mind, dog owners are again asked to keep their pets in yards or on a leash. WHERE THERE'S SMOKE... The sharp gusts of wind covered our house with fc acrid smoke as I was writ this column Tuesday morning. The wild grass covered field in the Moraine Hills State Park was on fire. Park officials were aware, and volunteer fireman Joe Yerkes, whose home butts the park property, was aware, but the fear of uncontrollable New Hearing Aid Lets You Hear In Noisy Situations fire caused a feeling of terror. The crackling noise a fire makes as it travels up the dry weed stalks could be heard ana it was IT an hour of billowing smoke and one final surge of power, the fire was out. All that is visible is the black charred field, and the smell of smoke. AEROBICS, ANYONE? A sampling of aerobics will be presented by four students at the McHenry Nunda Library at noon Saturday, April 20, during National Library Week. . Pam Messman, Tracy Hueckstaedt, Tammy Sexton and Mary Messman will give a demon­ stration of aerobic exercises with music. This follows the Saturday morning puppet show and kite making session spon­ sored by Friends of the M.N. Library, for area youngsters. The finale of National Library Week will be Saturday afternoon senior citizen events, to which all ages are invited. Lakerfidor president Pat Morrison and village clerk Carol Schmidt will present a copy of the Lakemoor History 'Book at 2 p.m Brezezinski will share some Ann of her exciting adventures and places to go; Ray Embrey will display his hobby of wood- carved birds; and tnere will be a painting exhibit.
