I BET YOU DIDN'T KNOW Brought to you by Phil Oeffling The great home run slugger Babe Ruth surprisingly hit only 9 home runs in his first 4 YEARS in the big leagues.. .Ruth came to the majors in 1914 when he hit no homers.. In 1915 he hit 4...In 1916 he hit 3...And in 1917 he hit only 2...Ruth didn't be come famous as a home run hitter until 1920-his 7th year in the majors-when he hit 54 homers. * * * * * Did you know that if quarterback Doug Flutie had signed in the National Football League, he wouldn't have been able to wear his uniform number 22 that he made famous at Boston College, and that he's now wearing in the U.S. Football League ..In the National Foot ball League, all quarterbacks must wear numbers between 1 and 19...No NFL quarterback is allowed to wear a number higher than 19. * * * * * Has any big league baseball pitcher ever pitched 2 no hit games in a row?... It's happened only once in history...In 1938, Johnny Vander Meer of Cincinnati pitched 2 no-hitters in a row. v * * * * * I bet you didn't know ..that now is the best time for home improvements. And now's the best time to see Keith Leathers or Linda Wigman or myself for an improvement loan. We'll set up the right loan to meet your budget require ments.
