The teams were originally scheduled to play a doubleheader, but the icy winds knocked the two seven-inning contests down to one five-inning game. MCC did all its bottom of the first: tallied eight runs. reached on a single and McHenry's Kris Teuber con tinued his tear at the plate by rapping a wind-blown home run to left center giving the Scots a 2-0 lead. McHenry's Fritz Larson followed with a single and Curt Ljundgren blasted another two- run shot upping the lead to 4-0. Niles then found it difficult to catch the ball as three of the next four batters reached on errors as two more runs crossed the plate. Teuber closed the scoring when he dropped a two-run double into short centerfield making the count 8-0. Winning pitcher Jim Krausen gave up one run in the second on two walks, a stolen base and a sacrifice fly. For the day, Krausen walked five and struck out six in picking up the win. The Scots sewed up the victory with single runs in the third, fourth and fifth frames. In the third, Todd Som- merville singled and scored later on Rich. Bailey's sacrifice fly.
