By Yvonne Beer executive vice president, McHenry County Board of Realtors A record number of homes throughout the McHenry County area will be on display Sunday, May 5, when Realtors offer the Great American Dream open house showcase. Anyone considering buying a home should attend as many of the open houses as they can visit that afternoon. More than fifty homes will be open to the public, an unprecedented viewing opportunity. Hubbard's performance honored McHenry resident George Hubbard, employed by Judge & Dolph, Limited, has been ap pointed to the Canadian Club Society. The announcement was made recently at the annual awards ceremony held in Ft. Lauderdale, FL., by Gerard C. Gianni, president of Hiram Walter Inc. The Canadian Club Society, created over 20 years ago, celebrates the outstanding in dividual sales achievements of Canadian Club representatives. Inductees are selected for this honor from among thousands of sales professionals nationwide which include Hiran Walker personnel and sales represen tatives from the company's distributor network. Appointment to the Society is considered one of the highest and most prestigious achievements in the distilled spirits industry. Members are chosen based upon their sales performance during the preceding year. At the dinner ceremony, Mr. Gianni presented Mr. Hubbard with a gold diamond Canadian Club ring, a blazer embroidered with a gold Canadiah Club crest and a plaque inscribed with his name. SCHOEPKE NAMED Lutheran Social Services of Illinois, 880 Lee St in Des Plaines, recently announced the appointment of Mark A. Schoepke of Crystal Lake as the new director of financial development. The current economic situation makes this an ideal time for most prospective buyers to make their move. Mortage interest rates are down significantly from what they have been for several years, the economy is stable, and there is a large selection of homes on the market. A lot of people who have been waiting to buy will probably find that if they wait much longer, they'll be passing up a great opportunity. Interest rates probably will not decline much farther if at all, and may ac tually tend to increase some months down the road. However, even, if rates did decline a half point or so in a few months, what a buyer would stand to save on monthly payments could be offset by Gerard C. Gianni, president of Hiram Walker Inc., and George and Ruth Hubbard T H E Siidal AND boutique LTD. • BRIDESMAIDS • TUXEDO RENTAL • ACCESSORIES • LINGERIE 'Your Special Occasion Experts" • BRIDAL GOWNS • MOTHERSOF THE WEDDING INVITATIONS PROM DRESSES • AFTER 5 DRESSES Hours: Mon. & Thurs. 12 8:30 Tues. Even though the state's \ population continues to grow, Illinois has experienced a gradual decrease in the total number of housing units. Realtors are concerned that McHenry County might ex perience a housing shortage in the future if that trend con tinues. If that does develop, it could drive home prices up. Realtors, who are acquainted with the wide variety of mor- tages available today, will serve as open house hosts. In addition to showing the homes, they will be able to answer questions about alternative means of financing, and other matters about buying a home. ealtors ECORD Shaw Free Press Newspaper Group Plaindealer Herald 3812 W.
